The Music Department’s Year The 1942-43 season has Iwn one of high merit lor Ccn mil's music department. Teachers and pupils alike deserve much credit, tor many hours arc spent at home and after school putting together music listened to for a few minutes Choir The choir and chorus classes, under the direction of Miv. Huxtaisle, have tlonc their part exceptionally well. The choir participated in the winter concert and “Trial by Jury. The latter performance fulfilled everyone's expectation, and was follosvrd by “B.illasl for Americans. Orchestra Mr. Klo»« an«l the 4fl members of the orchestra have also done an excellent job. Overcoming handicaps, this group lias des elopes! into a precise, well-balanced concert orchestra. Besides the winter concert. Usherettes’ show, ansi the play, the orchestra played for the operetta ansi “Ballad for Americans.” Band What would a football game or pep meeting be without the band to add color ansi spirit? Will we ever forget the “(Jay Nineties Pageant?? The band. composed of 85 mem hers, ably conducted by Mr. (Close, played, in addition to the above performances, a winter concert, their spring concert, at the teachers’ convention, at the USO, at the sewing of Wisconsin’s star on the D.A.R. flag, on class night, ansi on luradc. • • • • So, thanks to Miss Huxtahlc ansi Mr. Klosc for helping to make this year a successful one. f 4J

THE FOOTBALL sou AD On the Gridiron This yc.tr Central gridders finished one of the most unsuccessful seasons in recent history when they managed to pull but one victory and a tie out of the fire in their eight game schedule. Mast of the games were close hut Coach Pollock’s men couldn’t click in the decisive moments, which explained the loss of many close games. In contrast with recent yars, the annual East-Central tilt found Central as the underdog and loser of the final game of the season.
