The Play’s The Thing Central' principal dramatic achievement this year was the coinedv-drama, Almost Eighteen,' written by Dana Thomas. The play conccrncii Iuldic Barry, almost eighteen, who had ambitions to become a radio star. Ivddic entered an essay contest to win $250 which would enable him to go to N’ess York to study. Complication arose from this Venture and the plot of the piny was thus formed. Laughter rang once more from Central’s auditorium when members of the M club presented their tenth annual Minstrel show. 'Ilus year's pro ductiou was written by Tom JafTcris. Those on the program were folm Lehmann as interloctor; Ken I lick-man, Clayton Allen. Paul Berg. CIcorgc Schiro. Peter Accardo, Don Sehauh, Tony Puccio, and Don Kauffman as minstrels: Holland Williamson. James llyslop, Dick Wagner, and Tom InlTcris as Soap Opera characters: Tony Puccio, Hoy I Jansen, Paul Berg, Peter Accardo. Don Kauffman, and Ken Hickman as the never to be forgotten “Central High Rockctica : John Ixhmann. Don Sehauh, and Jim Hyslop will long l c rcmcinlx-rcd for their work as “Those Beautiful Dolls. The surprise of the evening, which was tile presentation of Miss Madison Central, who proved to l c the inimitable John Orangic Berg: and the dramatic skit, “At Home With the Jerks. starring jarring Joe Meyers. Clarence “the cutic lessor, lovable George Cholcs, gorgeous George Schiro, and mighty Dick Wagner. Throughout the program music was furnished by a group of Central juvcsicrs. Popular numbers were played by the orchestra which consisted of Mary Catherine Egan, Alan Peterson, Jeffrey Quin, William O’Brien, George Miller, Reuben Pettier, Frank Tra-pino, Charles Berigan, Jack Ammerman, Don Young, and Claude Brown, who did some drum specialty numbers. Dramatics at Centu! this |«st year were under the direction of Mrs. Meta Anderson, who replaced Miss Ruth Kent .lcr in order that Miss Kcnt .lcr might undertake work at the USO. Member of die cast included Edwin Tocpelman, Selma Dewey, Mary Lou Hanson, Gloria Herde, Isabelle Saeck, Robert Koch, Clarence Esscr, Mary lane Gerry, Richard Bidgood, Joan Kcssenich, Donald Crortkfitc, and Joyce Venden.
