Qllnirnnlumzing Hunt 1953 'Qnarhnnk 'ifhe fl9rz1nle IH arhunk nf arlisnn Quzzxnlnmg Qilunisnille, Qslzxhzxm 7 rlitnfs 2553122 As all good things must come to an end, so must our days at Madison Academy. Although we have enjoyed many happy experiences together, some will depart and never again meet. We, the Annual staff. have worked hard on presenting you, the faculty, parents, students, and friends of Madison Academy this annual, and sincerely thank the ones who have helped us during our school activities. If sometime in the future, you turn the pages of this bookg and it brings pleasant memories, we will be satisfied in knowing that we have reached the goal that we have tried to obtain. ,,. 6 rinripalha arrange Ralph Waldo Emerson said, When it is dark enough, men see the stars. There is an old Orien- tal proverb that says, All sunshine makes a desert. Mature people are made not out of good times but out of bad times. It is in a crisis that the best in us comes to the front. We live in a age that is so turbulent, so confusing, so uncertain, that it is easy for us to become discouraged, bitter, and resentful. However, in all this gloom may we come to realize the importance of being led by the hand of the Eter- nal One. lt is in the night we see the stars which are invisible by day. ' It is the purpose of Madison Academy to not only point out to its students the exact condition existing in our world today, but to point them to the only one that can give real, true, lasting hope. All we expect of our students, and all that we want to develop within them is a mature outlook, reason- able expectation, a calm and steadfast mind and the patience with which to meet whatever comes with courage and faith in God, instead of with bitterness ' and resentment. Many of you will be returning to Madison Academy next fall. Every effort will be made to enable you to find a stronger Academy, a little better equipped to serve young people. Each year should be marked by progress, improvement, and growth. To those of you who will graduate, we wish for you a full life of personal happiness and concrete ac- complishment in the service of God. Those of us who will remain at the Academy next year, both students and teachers, will always be interested in you, your loved ones and your welfare. Your successes will bring us joy and you can be certain of our sympathy and understanding in times of sorrow and heartache. l, person- ally, will always want to help each of you whenever I can. It will always be a great disappointment to me if you do not call on me when you feel I can help you. May God bless you. Always keep us informed as to your whereabouts. Respectfully, MQAV7 ,eac-104-ca Harding Lowry Principal I. gl 4 enltwhnn I , B . . X With deepest appreciation for the loyal and proficient service she has given to Madison Academy, her willingness to help others, and her contribution to further Christian education, we, the Senior Class, gratefully dedicate this 1963 edition of the Oracle to Mrs. W. The church stands in dire need of active young members prepared to grow into leadership in the Lord's work all over the world. LIPSCOMB successfully initiated year-round education with a full fourth quarter opening in June, 1962. More than 100 first-term fresh- men enrolled in programs that will permit them to graduate in june, 1965. Hereafter, freshman classes will begin in june and September each year. Commencements will be held in June and August. Junior college graduates also save time by be- ginning their senior college work at Lipscomb in June instead of September. Few young peo- ple can find summer employment that will re- ward them as well as will completion of a quarter's work in college. Students planning to study in professional or graduate schools after receiving the B.S. or B.A. degree will benefit from year-round education by thus shortening their overall period of preparation. Lipscomb offers pre-professional training in many fields and has awarded B.A. or B.S. degrees to nearly 2000 men and women majoring in 24 different areas of study since 1948. President Athens Clay Pullias has presented nearly 2000 degree certificates to Lipscomb graduates maioring in 24 different fields of study since the first senior college class was graduated in l948. BOARDING STUDENTS HAVE A DEFI- NITE ADVANTAGE IN FOURTH QUARTER STUDY. By beginning their studies in Iune and making a satisfactory record in the summer quarter, they are guaranteed choice dormitory space for the more crowded fall quarter, since they will be permitted to retain the rooms as- signed for the summer. , YOU HAVE BEGUN YOUR EDUCATION IN A CHRISTIAN SCHOOL which recognizes the importance of Bible study as preparation for any life work. Complete it at Lipscomb where every student is privileged to study the Bible every day while receiving superior academic training. Alumni of Lipscomb now furnish Christian leadership for the Lord's church as Well as in their professions and vocations throughout the United States and in other countries. This is your invitation to write for information about how you may join this great army of Christian men and women. Address all correspondence to: WILLARD COLLINS.
