Board of Education COX DAIRY BAR (Mr. Mrs. Raymond Cox, Ruth Howell, Anthony Lloyd, Lana Stephens, Gary Locke) Serving as School Board members this year are Mr. John Jones, Mr. R. D. Phillips, Mr. Oscar Wil- liams, Mr. James Fricke, chairman, and Mr. Cleo Sandefur. Mrs. Mary Beard serves the board as secretary. Regularly scheduled meetings are held the first Monday night of each month. Linking the community and school closer, the board serves with the Superintendent in provid- ing the best curriculum, personnel and facilities that can be acquired. In this group of men, many walks of life are represented: Mr. Jones is associated with a bank; Mr. Fricke and Mr. Phillips are ranchers; Mr. Williams is a newspaper man; and Mr. Sandefur is a postoffice employee and landowner. Newly elected member, Mr. Wayne Cabaniss, will start his duties as a member of the board in the next school year. Performing the duties of a school board mem- ber, with praises unsung, these men are not often told how they are appreciated—but they are the necessary link needed between community and school.

Mad ill Welcomes Mr. Beare Serving in his first year, Mr. Beare has experienced many busy days as superintendent. With the task of providing the best plant and personnel available comes many problems and opportunities alike. Some goals in transportation and curriculum have been reached, but many lie ahead as a challenge to the future. T. C. BEARE, Superintendent MRS. M. BEARD, Secretary Superintendent's Message . . . I would like to take this opportunity to ex- press my sincere appreciation to the students, faculty and staff for the cooperative spirit which you have shown during my “freshman” year at Madill. We are reminded that upon our youth of today depends the America of tomorrow. Education is the foundation of Democracy. As long as we have youth who will prepare themselves to fill the places of responsibility in our complex and ever- changing society. America will stand. It is good to reminisce, but we must ever look and prepare for the future. We are privileged to live in the greatest coun- try the world has ever known. The average per- son easily lives better than kings of the ancient world. The price for this standard of living has been paid for by the blood of loyal Americans. The future of this great country will depend to a large degree upon the dedication of our young people to assure the continuance of our Demo- cratic form of government. I am sure that should the occasion arise, the students of Madill High School will stand up to be counted. BB t has been a pleastire working with you. —T. C. BEARE. Superintendent SANDEFUR INSURANCE AGENCY, 109 S. 1st St.
