SUPERINTENDENT ... I view education as the most important subject we as people can be engaged in. This statement by Abraham Lincoln is as true today as when uttered a hundred years ago. Our philosophy of government, democracy, is based upon the utmost development of the individual through education in a free society. Your education should enable you to acquire useable knowledge, form useful skills, develop an openness of mind, strengthen your self-discipline, and in- crease your sense of responsibility toward yourself, your family, and your fellow man. This education does not come about in some easy, effortless way-- you must work to attain it. Are you working for it? RINALDO WREN Time Progressed, Everything Was Ready. But...

VICE PRINCIPAL School life can be a challenging and happy experi- ence or a dull and unpleasant one, whichever we choose. This applies to the student, classroom teacher, or administrator. I try to take the posi- tive approach to school life. The young people of today must think positively about the future and be working toward certain objectives and goals. The high school student, or the adult, without daily and life goals will be un- happy with himself and the world around him. Gauge your own abilities and interests--do not try to fit yourself to someone else's pattern. Then plan accordingly No doubt you have all at sometime been disciplined for deviating from the accepted standards of be- havior. If you are honest with yourself, you will admit that such discipline was for your own good and the good of all. Outside discipline is neces- sary --eventual self-discipline is the hope of those doing the disciplining. In school life and beyond school, we cannot avoid responsibility--to our- selves and to others. Unfortunately, some people think that there is something radically wrong with the youth today. I do not subscribe to this idea. Young people today have as much ability, as many worthy desires and commendable motives as young people have always had. Inaddition they have a greater general knowl- edge than ever before. These are trying times-- even at the level of school life--but I believe that you have, and will continue to, meet whatever challenges are presented.
