SEIIIUR HISTUIW This is The hisTory of The greaTesT Senior class Madera Union l-ligh School has ever had, summed up in Tour shorT divisions enTiTled, Freshman, Sopho- more, Junior and Senior Years. Freshman Year lT was a nice, cool SepTember morning in The year I948. The Freshmen were all up brighT and Senior Year early, ready To encounTer Their TirsT da aT hi h .1 -24- 4,1 Q' 5 f NV 2 gui flf 'eil' R V xii X W , . y 6 ' x --TTI Y 9 school. MosT oT us were walking To school, and by some sTrange co- incidence, we be- came separaTed from our Trous- ers lThe boys, ThaT isl. This was our TirsT experi- ence wiTh The sTu- denTs oT The oTher classes. This TirsT y e a r i n h i g h school can besT be described as one of The mosT evenTTul and exciT- ing years in our high school career. The highlighT of The year was The wiTnessing oT The vicTories oT The TooTball Team which aTTained The school The TirsT championship Team They had had Tor many years. And, we were really big shoTs. We were members of ThaT huge Madera high rooTing secTion which venTured down To BakersTield Tor The Valley Cham- pionship game. Then There was The annual Sopho- more-Freshman recepTion where we were very well received. A Tew oT The Tellows, noT To menTion any names, were greeTed wiTh a baTh oT snow on The nighT oT The gala aTTair. Probably The worsT day any of us had in school during ThaT year was The Fresh- man Freak Day. This Time The girls as well as The boys were TreaTed very rough. The Freshman year E165 indeed a year oT much exciTemenT Tor iTs mem- ers. Sophomore Year This was The ear in which we really found our- selves. We Tinaliy caughT on To all of The angles oT This big school. For insTance. we learned how To make up good excuses Tor Tardiness and absences and learned many oTher Things which enabled us To geT ouT oT classes. During our Sophomore year. we greeTed The Freshman class wiTh a recepTion which our class is sTill boasTing abouT. IT was one oT The nicesT recepTions ThaT was ever given. During This recepTion, There were no snow baThs, no roTTen- egg TighTs or eTc. We had a good Time and a good dance which everyone really enioyed. ln This year we were able To help a liTTle on The iniTiaTion oT The Freshmen, and don'T Think we didn'T enioy every minuTe oT The iniTiaTion. As Tar as big evenTs go, our Sophomore year was probably mosT likely To be called our slowesT, alfhough we sTill had our Tun as we always manage To do. Junior Year Then There was our Junior year in l95O. This year was The year which mosT oT us puT in more manual labor Than we did anyThing else. We were sporTing our new class rings and oT course, our new class sweaTers. This year we puT on The big Junior Review which all oT us will long remember as being marred by The Talling oT a curTain during The lasT acT, which narrowly missed iniuring several sTudenTs. This mis- hap, however, didn'T sTop The Review Trom being a wonderful show. AnoTher big iob Tor us was puT- Ting on The Junior-Senior prom. To make This evenT a success, many oT us worked Three days and nighTs. And, we are proud To say ThaT The Senior class oi I95l received a very nice send oTT. Our Junior year was noT all work and no play. Many oT us Tound Time To give The Seniors a bad Time on Senior Sneak Day. BuT, The besT parT of our Junior year was The lasT day oT school in June, when we knew we had Tinally achieved everyone's goal oT becoming a Senior! LasT buT noT leasT is The greaTesT year oT Them all, our Senior year. This year has been by Tar The mosT educaTional, The mosT evenTTul, and The mosT enjoy- able, ThaT we have encounTered in The Tour years of our high school careers. The highlighT oT The year To daTe was The Senior Sneak Day. We had a Tive-day holiday, so you can imagine whaT a wonderTul Time we had. MosT oT our class moTored To The YosemiTe Valley. Many oThers Took Trips To Los Angeles, San Francisco, and many oTher ciTies. There have been many oTher Sneak Days Tor some oT The members oT This class, buT They were noT school scheduled Sneak Days and The one previously menTioned. This year we Seniors are looking Torward very much To The prom which The Junior class will presenT in our honor. ATTer This evenT, There will Tollow The BaccalaureaTe service, The Senior recepTion, and Tinally ThaT greaT day oT days, graduaTion. When The Time acTually comes Tor This class oT I 952 To leave Madera High, we are sure we all look back upon The wonderTul Times we have had and TruThTully say ThaT we have enioyed every minuTe oT ourTour aes., QOQ ye a rs oT high N Q school.
