VOLLBORN DEDICATION He has been an important figure in the lives of all of the students in the Madera Union High School-his cheerful words and kindly advice have not gone unheeded. To the Seniors, particularly, his name holds a special, hon- ored place for he has been our guide through the two years of upperclass training. Because he is loved cmd respected by all, we the Class of 1944, wish to dedicate this annual to Mr, H. A. Vollborn. L C THOMPSON lac? ' TCMORROW You would not be a normal high school graduate of l944 unless you shared the peculiar satisfaction of knowing that in these days of world happenings your particular tomorrow is uncertain. Your horizons are no longer predictable by analysts nor are they limited by boundary lines. Alaska is at your back door, Australia at the side, and Italy in your front yard. And as your horizons have been extended so have your expecta- tions been enlarged. Your views, your associations and your services may become world wide rather than community wide. Tomorrow will find ninety-six graduates separated, per- haps, by oceans or continents but still united in their constant allegiance to the American way of government, the American way of life. L. C. Following Day was Sadie Hawkins' dressed as Little Abner or soon alter Blossom Day with everyone Daisy Mae. Every senior girl will long remember May ll as the day when they took over the teachers' Jobs for a halt a day. An election had been held for those girls who wanted to teach cer- tain classes, and they enjoyed being on the opposite side of the teaching desks. The river dam was the spot chosen for the last big Girls' League event of the year, their annual picnic. Quantities of picnic food and various types of entertainment made it a big day for all of the girls. ow l: P. McKee, N Martinelli F Miller P Bram GIRLS' LEAGUE COUNCIL They got ci man.
