Interscholastic Volleyball Volleyball in its third yEar as an Interscho- lastic sport sponsored by the Girls Athlstic Association, did quite well this year in defeat- ing their opponents. The Varsity team cont sisting of Juniors and Seniors ended the season with a 3-2 record, while the combined ePforts 0f the freshman and sophomore Junior Varsity team went UNDEFEATED. Both teams did very well considering their lack of experience in this sport, The girls, coached by Mrs. Clara Piskor, practiced two and three times a week besides the days on which games were played.

Interscholastic Field Hockey Field hockey is one of the major girlsh sports at Madeira High School. The hockey season begins in September and continues into late fall with practices every week. This year both the Varsity and Junior Varsity teams received new uniforms consisting of blue kilts with gold blouses and kneesoeks. Due to the contin- uous bad weather in November, only Eve games were played. The Varsity record was Ow2w3 and the Junior Varsity record was a commend- able 570. Girlsi Interscholastic Basketball Girls? Basketball is the most competitive sport sponsored by G.A.A. at Madeira Over 110 girls try out for the Varsity and junior Varsity teams, but only 25 make it. The practices are ex- hausting, but the satisfaction of winning is great. Monday and Friday afternoons are the girls, day for the gym, and you can rest assured that theyTe putting it to good use. Whether ifs running laps or doing passing drills theyire constantly building up team spirit to face the opponent. Girls, Basket bail is much like boys7 except for the fact that a girlsi team has four stationary players and two roving players. Mrs. Clara Piskor, Head Basket- ball Coach, scheduled eight games with other schools. The girls should be given credit for their constant ambition and team spirit.
