Panama MR HERBERT L. DERICKS 13.5. in Ed., University of Cincinnati M,Ed., Xavier University wiggt The span of years in high school has been, is, and, I am sure, will continue to be a very important segment of an individual's life. The last quarter of a century has seen a change in the lives of young Americans. A quarter of a century ago, free public secondary education was available to all, but certainly a much smaller percentage took advantage of it. In the complex society of recent years, a background of a high school education is extremely essential. As technological advancements are acceleratedwith the various stages of automation, places in society for people without high school training are rare. The need for even more than high school is pointed to with great emphasis . In this year of 1963 a good high school education is an essential for all as aprepara- tion for additional study. It is my sincere desire and the fundamental objective of our school that the educational needs of every student have best been fulfilled in the school year 1962-1963. Mr. Dericks Right: Mr. Dericks always enjoys a good game of chess.
