limi, 6!2U'a MR. SIDNEY FRIEDMAN B.S.Ecl., University ot Cincinnati Mr. Friedman, popular coach at MHS, is the boys' Physical Education and Health teacher. Known to the tellows as Coach or Sid, he may otten be seen streaking down the base ketball court or sinking his tamous head shot. This likable U.C. grad has gained tame as leader ot the ever- challenging Mustang quintet. MRS. OLIVE M. GREGORY Miami University University ot Cincinnati Mrs. Gregory specializes in English and history. This dignitied, intelligent teacher works with our Eighth Grade girls and boys. Her love ot tlowers is well known. Mrs. Gregory's attractive classroom shows that her pupils and school are close to her heart, and that her teaching is sincere and pleasant. MR. CHARLES HARTLEY B.A., lndiana University When walking past the science room you may very well hear a tew chuckles coming torth trom there. The reason is usually tound behind the teachers desk in the person ot Mr. Hartley. Along with teaching the various courses ot science, Mr. Hartley spends much ot his time coaching athletics. He handles the Junior Varsity basketball team and is the mentor ot our high school track team. He is also Sophomore Class Co- Advisor. M RS. DOROTHY LANCASTER BA.. Berea College This year marks the tirst time MHS has had a tully trained Librarian and a real library. Mrs. Lancaster has greatly improved our library by adding new books, cataloging, arranging dis- plays, and managing her statt ot stu- dent librarians. Mrs. Lancaster's triendly manner and earnestness in as, sisting students soon made her a tav- orite at MHS.

j6lCllhg MRS. CLEDA DUMONT B.S.Ed., University ol Cincinnati The Home Economics Department is capably directed by demure, talented. surprising Mrs. Dumont. Surprising? Yes, detinitely, lor who would ever guess that Mrs. Dumont caught a six-pound cattish on her vacation, or that she is interested in acquiring an accurate aim with a ritle? Serving as Co-Advisor ot the Seniors, organizer al the Annual Style Show, and Lunchroom Cashier lceeps our Home Ec teacher quite busy. MR. JAMES DUNN B,A., B.S.Ed., Cedarville College Mr. Dunn is our versatile Eighth Grade CoAAdvisor. He teaches Fresh- man Algebra and all the Junior High math. Mr. Dunn coaches both the June ior High basketball and traclc teams. During Varsity and Junior Varsity bas- lcetball games he can be Iound at the scorer's table talcing care ot the score- board and cloclc. MISS MARILYN ECKERT B.S.Ed., Bowling Green State University Another newcomer to the portals ol MHS is Miss Eclcert. This amiable Spanish and English teacher has become a lriend to all ol us. Those in her speech class gained much helpful advice and experience in the art at public spealcing. Miss Eclcert is Freshmen Co-Advisor, and her counsel is well regarded by all of them. She directed the Senior Class play this year. MRS. FRANCES ELBERTY B.S. Art Ed., Miami University B.A., Cleveland Art Institute Quiet, friendly Mrs. Elberty handles the Art Department. She is ever ready to help us by thinlcing ol catchy art worlc to advertise our dances or by lend- ing us construction paper tor ticlcets! She conducts tield trips and excursions to various art museums and malces Art one of the most interesting classes here. Mrs. Elberty also teaches art in the Madeira Grade School.

alfukg MR. FRANCIS R. LANG B.S.Ed., University ot Cincinnati M.Ed., University ot Cincinnati Mr. Lang is our very likable com- mercial instructor. He has many varied activities including school treasurer, head ot the Student News Writers, Sen- ior Co-Advisor, and Advisor ot the Annual. Mr. Lang has given many hours - and a few pep talks - in working with the Seniors in the produc- tion ot this MNEMONlC l953. He teaches adult classes at Madeira and at the U.C. Evening College. MRS. ANN RUEGER B.A., DePauw University Good-natured Mrs. Rueger is the Seventh Grade Co-Advisor. She also teaches Typewriting II and English. ln early spring Mrs. Rueger begins to assemble talent tor the annual Variety Show - one ot the big events at Madeira. Whether working with Sev- enth Graders or upperclassmen, Mrs. Rueger is courteous and friendly, ever willing to help. MR. RALPH WRIGHT B.S.Ed., Ohio State University Tall, lanky, and quiet might well describe our history instructor, Mr. Wright. Known tor his love ot the Democrats and his timely anecdotes at Letter Banquets, Mr. Wright has become a triend to all. He is coach ol our golt team and Freshmen Class Co-Advisor. One ot Mr. Wright's favorite pastimes is woodworking, and the industrial Arts room is the scene ot his operations. MR. JAMES ZARLEY B,S.Ed., Ohio University Driver Training, Akron Short, stocky, and curly-haired sums up our active Manual Arts and Mechan- ical Drawing teacher. Jim, as he is attectionately called by many students. is an ardent follower ol hunting and the workings ot automobiles. He is in charge ot the Driver Training classes at our school. Mr. Zarley is Co-Advisor ot the Junior Class and in his spare time he directs stage constructions tor MHS productions.
