53 THE VIAUD SCHOOL founded ln l926 by Madame Vlaud, moved lnto 1ts present blnldlng m 1930 Insplred by the leadershlp and courage of 1ts founder the three teachers and thlrteen students of that flrst year worked hard and pushed ahead Gradually students were added and the need for more teachers and addl tlonal courses of lnstructlon grew There are now commerclal classes as well as the academlc courses To facllltate the transfer of students the Vlaud School became certlfled by the State Board of Educatlon even though lt was stlll small Now that all requlrements as to number of students quallfled teachers llbrary and l1brar1an,sc1ence laboratorles etc have been met the State Board has fully accredlted th school Today the ten teachers and more than a hundred students stlll look for guldance and sympathy from 1ts founder and flrst prmclpal Madame Vlaud our prlnclpal emerltus slnce 1946 Vlaud 1s not so old Nor her bu1ld1ngs so grand But her Splflt lS so bold And her walls wlll ever stand There lS a sense of duty And a real deslre to know That makes a thing of beauty Of old Vlaud M ,uw our D -9 5: o Q' 41 x X' ' e Q 1, e Q , 0 YN I Q' O U to 2 .
