Statiscally, Macon led the Indians in yards gained from running and passing but Shelbina rolled up eleven first clowns to Macon's ten first downs, much of it being in the last quarter as Coach Dunn began seasoning some of the younger boys. MACON 7 MOBERLY 7 The Tigers met the Moberly Pups and came out with a tie in what proved to be a thrilling and hard I fought game. A 50 yard pass Cheever to Baldwin was a highlight, and Macon s steady running attack drove into pay-dirt for the Macon score. A tie was gained by Moberly in the last 45 seconds. inn 132 Q1 J 'x 'xx ffjgtww! Macon rolled up 2533 yards rushing and all the Tigers saw action during the game, Clarence Walker showed his great potential as a fast, shifty runner, Donald Cheever continued to gain great yardage, Ronnie Porter turned in fine blocking and signalcalling, and Porter Baldwin showed great defensive ability as well as tricky running and blocking all of the Tiger linemen turned in a good game. MACON 0 UNIONVILLE 21 Again the Tigers met a team withagreater will to win and Unionville gave Macon their worst loss of the Season. The Tigers minus three starters, Porter, Bentele, and Phillips, were unable to muster up enough spirit to become the go-go-go guys they usually are regardless of the opposition. A very muddy field and a game played away from home could have helped play a part in the defeat. l T T 2 Tiger Coaches and Co-Captains: Robert Wilson, Hugh Dunn, Ronnie Porter, Porter Baldwin, Alfred Welch, David Marr. 133 DON MARSHALL BUDDY CARTER RONNIE BURCH Senior Back Senior Tackle Senior End TWO-year Letterman Three-year Letterman One-year Letterman N.-XCON -ll BROOKFIIQLD 12 With an overall team effort, the Tigers ran over the Brookfield Bulldogs 41-12. Most of the Tiger squad saw action and all turned in top performances. Statistics showed a much closer game than it actually was, but with Macon putting on a fine exhibition of pass defense and also recovering two fumbles, plus a good running offense they rolled up the score all-O before the Bulldogs were allowed to score in the fourth quarter. MACON O M.-XRCELINE 13 The Macon Tigers suffered their first loss to a big, rough Marceline outfit, who showed good power but also racked up 100 yards in penalties. Although the Tigers were only down one touchdown at the half they were unable to get back in the game. The Tiger line showed well with Maloney, Kilgore, Crutchfield, Foster, Carter, Wray, Phillips, Devine, Bentele, Wadlin, Norton, Holman, Sebree, Burch, and other Tigers in the thick of the battle. In the backfield doing an outstanding job were Baldwin, Porter, Cheever, Marshall, and Walker. MACON 13 CENTRALIA 13 The Tigers ended their grid season in a fighting finish, tying a strong Centralia team on a frozen Panther field, coming from behind twice to gaina tie and knocked at the door for a win before time took over. The Tigers contained a very strong running attack very well and went to the air themselves to keep the game on an even footing, and a blocked kick was all that saved the Panthers from a defeat.
