BACK ROW: Gary Glenn, Donnie Leath, Jim er, Linda Cunningham, Trell Foster,Ronnie Switzer, Donald Shearon, Ronald Marshall, Mary Wright, Betsy Mea.ns,Sec- Marshall, Donald Cheever. The Student Council began its '58-'59 year serving as Vice-President of the Missouri Association of Student Councils. They sponsored the Freshman Orientation as the first assembly of the year, and amended the Constitution to allow a fourth representative from each class. At Homecoming, the Council presented the Homecoming Queen and Attendants with sterling sil- ver bracelets. They also entered a float in the parade. Two other assemblies were sponsored by the Council. The first was the Formal Installation of Officers and Representatives, and the other on Sportsmanship. The four paid assemblies for next year have also been arranged. At Christmas, snowmen were put in front of the building and the doors were well decorated. The Council sponsored the Christmas baskets and entertained the student body with the aid of Miss Jones, with an enjoyable pre-vacation party. After a midterm evaluation duringthe ho1idays,they returned with plans for the annual Valentine Dance, the election of new officers and representatives, revision of the handbook, and well drawn diagrams for fire drills, The fire drills have been quite Successful, During the year the Councilsponsored several money-making projectsg a Faculty-Varsity basket- ball game, concession stands at two games, and a benefit movie are a few. In March several membersjourneyed to Springfield for the state convention, where Jerry McBeth lead group discussions, as state vice-president.
