CLASS FLOWER CLASS COLORS Orchid Gold Orchid and Royal Purple SPONSORS Miss Elsle Iones Mrs Helen Grubb Gerald Sandbothe Miss Carol Perkinson Hugh Dunn In September 1953 we n1nety frve Green Freshmen, entered the Stately Halls of Macon Hlgh School As we walked through the halls we wondered 1f we would survive our Freshman year and 1n three years be tall digmfled Seniors Durlng our Freshman year we were not idle We galned confidence in ourselves as we chose the followlng class officers President Leo Bentele V1ce Presldent Rlchard Massey Secretary Treasurer Rlchard Edwards Ela1ne Daniels was chosen as Freshman Attendant to the Homecomlng Queen dur1ng the Homecomlng actlvitles Our class colors were violet and yellow Sharryl Miller relgned as our class queen throughout the year Thus most of us surv1ved our Freshman year As Sophomores we galned new confldence The class elected Richard Edwards Pres1dent Charles Norton Vice Presldent and Dons Wmn Secretary Treasurer We chose Marllyn Mayes as our class queen Mary Margaret Le1st was elected Sophomore Homecomlng Attendant Our class colors were purple and yellow Our Iunior year was full of new mterests and our fame and faces known throughout the school We elected Marilyn Biberdorf class Presldent David Teter V1ce President Dorls W1nn Secretary Iudy Yeast Treasurer Pat Braud1s was our class queen and Sharryl Mrller was attendant to the Homecomlng Queen Our float The Last Fight won flrst place ln the Homecoming Parade We as Iumors w1th the pep and vitallty that very few Iumor classes have had produced the most colorful prom yet the third annual all n1ght prom The theme of our prom was Evenlng In Par1s and along w1th many colorful decorations proved to be the hlghllght of our Iumor year And then 1n September 1956 1D our frrst assembly the north sect1on of the audltorlum was f1lled once agaln w1th seventy flve intelllgent and dlgmfled Seniors We unanlmously elected Daryl Danner Pres1dent Allce Llnn Vlce Presldent Norma Blnder Secretary Ianet Johnson Treas urer and Elalne Damels as our class queen The football boys honored Iudy Boone as their choxce for Homecoming Queen and Marllyn Mayes and Iudy Yeast as her Senlor Attendants The O1p1 Staff chose Barbara Vanslckle as Olpl Queen Th1s year our float Strlke It Rich won thlrd prlze in the Homecomlng Parade Our queen rode tn a whlte Pontlac convertlble and she carried an orchid She wore a gold gllttered crown and a royal purple velvet cloak Our float featured an open chest wlth Macon s football vlctorles and money falling out The Senlor football boys h1gh11ghted th1s year by helplng to w1n the Qulnt C1ty Conference Champlonshlp and as therr award were presented w1th gold footballs We Senlors have made many records for ourselves our class and our school Indeed we are proud to be Senlors 1n MHS and hope that the next Senlor class w1ll do as well as we I L l n , n 1 1 1 . 1 1 - . . 1 4 u I I I ' 1 ' I C 1 o 1 1 1 1 , . , .
