J MACON COUNTY N HIGH SCHOOL MONTEZUMA, GA. 31003 y) VOLUME XN Z a , if I934 Butt_DOoG We do not believe anyone stands still in time. Today is just the edge of tomorrow. We want to take this time to examine and remember our Todays. This is our time to grow, learn, and share with our friends, parents, and teachers. Although we cannot be sure of the future, our actions now, especially our education, will have an im- pact on our lives. We end one phase of our lives, as we are on the verge of sampling totally new experiences We are all traveling on towards the future. We are the producers, consumers, dreamers, and developers of to- morrow. Our lives will be filled with technology, ad- vancement, and enrichment, and we will have forever our pathway of achievement in our memories TRAVELS OF A BULLDOG Whether we are freshmen or seniors, our pathway leads us straight into academics, sports, clubs, and graduation. Each new challenge sets ou r course for tomorrow. We have become aware that we are part of tomorrow, and will be needed there Because of our todays, we will find success waiting for us a : 3s; _ . ‘. Our schedule begins at 8:15 am and lasts through 3:09 p.m., and sandwiched between are six subject hours, which can be tiring and trying on our brains. We must discipline our- selves to study and respect oth- ers HAD GREAT TIMES Let's party. Let’s jam. The Bulldog likes a good time, good friends, and ——— a fast car. Our school days may be crammed with classwork and practice, but our weekends are free for fun. When we remember this time, one point will always shine the PEOPLE. Whether visiting the DQ or dancing in the gym, we have learned how meaningful friendships can be Any goal can be reached, with someone special on the road beside you. 4 = — —_ —— | Sp B|| er i ay . This Bulldog has a powerful spirit to pull through in trying times. By contributing through extra-curricular activities, we learn that hard work has i ts own rewards. We rely on this Bulldog strength to continue to strive for the best and to push on down the road. WITH DETERMINATION by —_- oe, - . ° Pn, “— ” We are achievers. All year the Bulldog has spotlighted the musicians, mechanics, athletes, and most importantly the stu- dents. Our honors earned in test scores, football yardage, and debate skills encourage us to tackle life at full speed. We can. We will. We must. ACCOMPLISHED OUR We are fortunate to have a new building complemented with new faculty and modern equipment. Our courses have been expanded with greater variety for the indivi- dual’s needs — construction, trans- portation, metal working, and health for those wishing immediate employable skills French and computer literacy for the pre-col- lege programs. Our facilities have a face-lift with the renovation of kitchen equip- ment and addition of special lunch line. Two requlation tennis courts are complete, which now make practices easier for our winning team. The faculty and students were treated to a newly paved and marked parking area, too. The staff was responsible for selling ads, selecting a theme, taking pictures, and organizing them and copy for the book’s sections. Dedication, determination, and pure luck saw us through. We have a new coach, new equipment, a much improved playing field, and lots of support from the school and community. Coach Kipp McLeod has been a member of two National teams, has coached a State Championship team, and has coached at Valdosta State College, third in the Nation in its Division. McLeod truly believes a winning attitude, and he is sure Macon County High players have it. TENNIS as The MCHS Tennis Team will begin Ry the season with only three veteran [ye players: Wes Jones, Thad Green, and ls S'v4 ya Pat Bellew. The team is also optimistic about this year’s attribute, Vaughn Lucky. Lucky is listed in the State’s Top 30 for the age 16, and under. Because last year’s Boys’ team cap- tured such titles as 2nd Place South Sections Champs, and Boys’ Region 1 AA Champs, the team is looking for- ward to an even greater season this year; perhaps State Champs. Coach Wylene Webb expects dedi- cation from her players, and started practices when it was still mighty cold. She believes practice makes perfect, and her record for winning proves it. A job that seemed almost impossible was not so difficult with the help of all those people who took part in making this year’s book a re- ality. | would like to thank Mr. David Zeigler of Josten’s Pub- lishing Company for all the help he has given us throughout the year, Mrs. Jo Campbell for her many hours of hard work and patience, and finally, the “1984 Bulldog Staff’’ for their unend- ing, dedicated efforts. Thanks must go also to Coach Car! Peas- ter, Owens Studios, John Con- verse, the Faculty, and the Stu- dent Body because without their support this book would have remained a dream. The Staff and | hope that this annual will hold many memories for everyone at MCHS and that each individual who bought one will enjoy it as much as we en- joyed producing it. My experience as editor of the ‘1984 Bulldog”’ has led me down many different pathways. Although my journey, as well as the other students’, has only just begun, this experience will en- rich my existence as | continue to travel through the remaining journeys of my life. It is my wish that somewhere, down the line, our paths will cross once again and we can share the memories this book contains. Thanks for the privilege of editing your “1984 Bulldog.” Sincerely, Lynne Rooks Even though many of us have come to the end of our journeys here at M.C.H.S., we have just begun that long road which leads into the unknown future. We will always remember and be thankful to M.C.H.S. and the people who have prepared us for our future. The valuable lessons of life we have learned here will help us face the challenging road which we have yet to travel. But the road leads us all, And we know, stand or fall, We have shared the day’s bread. We can laugh down the dream, For the dream breaks and flies: And we trust now the gleam, For the gleam never dies; — So it’s off now the load, For we know the night’s call, And we know now the road And the road leads us all. from the TWILIGHT SONG “aie 6s Wats - mes e a5 1 Rada
