DEDICATIO Walter Ardner Charles Ieffery Varsrty Basketball Coach Mr Ardner rece1ved h1s educatlon at L1bbey I-hgh School and Oh1O Un1vers1ty He took an actlve part 1n both football and basketball dur 1r1g h1s school career After graduatron from Ohlo U he taught school at Youngstown for s1x years Along wrth teachrng he coached Iumor H1gh basketball taklng three clty champlonshrps and wlnnmg three tournaments Then he taught at Wcnte and Ltbbey and came to Macomber 1n the fall of 1938 Whrle at Macomber he has had two c1ty champlonshrp teams and one co champ1onsh1p team He had three teams go to the frnals of the sectlonal tournament W1nn1ng one Hrs team ln 1944 45 went to the f1nals of the reglonal and lost to the team who went on to take the state charnp1onsh1p Coach Ardner s famrly llkes sports as much as he does He has a wonderful w1fe son and daughter Hls son Andy and h1s daughter Karen follow the team as though they were on 1t Mr Ardner says that h1s hobbmes are f1sh1ng and other sports but 1nvest1gat1on reveals h1s greatest hobby IS h1s famrly Hats off to Mr Ardner for the fme Job he has done here at Macomber L1ghtwe1ght Basketball Coach Mr Ieffery also attended Lxbbey Hrgh School and Ohlo Un1vers1ty takmg an actlve part 1n 1nterscholast1c compet1t1on rn both football and basketball HIS flrst teachlng ass1gnment was at Oakdale Elementary School 1n Toledo whrch was fol lowed by two years at Walte where he coached football In September 1943 he Jolned the Ma comber faculty as physlcal educatlon lnstructor and l1ghtwe1ght coach Hls coachtng career at Macomber has been one of outstandlng success taklng three hght Welght champronshrps and never havrng f1n 1shed lower than th1rd place But not only rn coachlng has Mr Ieffery ex celled When school sp1r1t at Macomber needs a hft whether 1t be for an athletlc contest carmval tlcket sale or any other campalgn all 1t takes to get the boys go1ng IS to have Preacher Ieff QIVG one of h1s pep talks and the trlck IS clone Boats of all types mterest h1rn and rn add1t1on to all lnterscholastrc sports he thoroughly en 1oys f1sh1ng But agam llke the real Amencan father he IS h1s chlef 1nterest 1S 1n h1s w1fe h1s twelve year old son hrs elght year old daughter and h1s home
