PROPOSED NEW VOCATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL Covering the entire block bounded by 15th, 16th, Monroe, and Washington Streets the new Vocational High School is intended to serve the entire city as a training center for boys desiring to enter the skilled trades. Mr. Cotter, Director of Industrial Arts and Vo- cational Education, who has made an intensive study of similar buildings in other cities, believes Toledo's building and curriculum will be the most outstanding in the country. The friends of Vocational Education who have waited and planned many years for this step forward in education in Toledo will find the money invested in Vocational Education returned with high dividends to the citizens of Toledo in the form of trained and competent tradesmen, who will contribute to the industrial growth of the city. VOCATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL To the thousands of students who have attended school in this old building its passing will be like losing an old acquaint- ance. Fond memories of pleasant, happy years spent within its walls are recalled by many prominent citizens of Toledo. The building was erected in the year 1853 and housed the first high school in Toledo. During the years that followed numerous changes in the name of the school and the type of education offered were made until Vocational Education was established in it in 1927. Now our moving time is close at hand, and we wonder who will be the new tenants of this historic old structure. '-l ' i

PRINCIPAL F. M. Dannenfelser X , f - fi- , , Q f . If Y , 1. ' . ff A TO VOCA TIONAL HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES - GREETINGS UU, as a Vocational High School graduate, should have a philosophy of life. You must do some hard thinking about yourself and the reason for your being in this world. You should have a clear picture in your own mind what life is about. You should have a plan. You should know where you want to go and what you want to achieve in this life, then you must work out the way or method by which you can fulfill your expectations and desires. Some think we are on this earth just to have a good time, and they spend most of their time chasing around seeking pleasure, trying to be happy by satisfying their physical desires. Others think the world owes them a living and they expect to collect it by doing as little work as possible. Many others think it is a merry-go-round, a revolving door, leading nowhere. What's the use, they ask, Hyou can't get anywhere anyhow. ' ' By this attitude they are licked before they start -these are the weak -they lack imagination, interest, enthusiasm, tire, drive, push, or punch-they are the mushrooms of life-growing up over night and perishing just as fast. The leaders, those with imagination, initiative, industry, and action say that life is an opportunity, a chance to show what we're made of, and that life gives us a chance to accomplish something of value so that we may be of service to ourselves and our fellow man. Life is a struggle, and you, who recognize it as such and prepare for it, achieve the greatest success and attain the greatest heights. Because life is a struggle, you must prepare for it. You have made a brief start by graduating from this practical high school. This should give you an advantage in helping you to get a job in the business and industrial world. You have skill and technical knowledge,
