The opening day was greeted with enthusiasm by all and a promise to make the coming year one of the best. With the help of the upper classmen and the new student handbook, prepared by the Student Council, the freshmen found it easy to adjust themselves to M. H. S. At the all-school picnic, old friendships were renewed and new ones made. Yes, activity at school had begun. GEE-The Seniors Are Big! WHERE ARE THE BOYS? gat We Std!! had 7m PARTIES PICNICS PLANS --....,.,. We ONE OF THE MOST MEMORABLE weekends you spent was the week of Homecoming. You worked many hours making preparations for the coming festivities. Then finally Fri- day night arrived with the annual bonfire heading the list of Homecom- ing activities, followed by a snake dance. Saturday afternoon you viewed the parade and in the even- ing the big game between the Bomb- ers and Monmouth. Although we lost the game, everyone had a wonder- ful time at the dance, which was decorated in the theme of Autumn Ball. The highlight of the evening was the crowning of the king and queen and attendants which brought the 1955 Homecoming to an end. Lcfl tn Riglllz L. lluguin: Sullivan: D. Dc-Rosa: C. Nlcllm it-ls: D. How- ever, with several lettermen, transfers, and newcomers the team seemed to shape up pretty well. Most of the Macomb High games were closely contested despite the scores, and the players kept their fighting spirit throughout the season. J is Magi xim' llalrt Mary Patrick Alive- linux ' s AHL- . - PRESIDENT DONEY PRESIDES DISCUSSION GROUPS MACOMB HIGH was host to the twen- tieth cmnucxl Pekin District convention of the Student Council. Guest speaker Iudge I. M. Brcxude spoke on the topic of juvenile delinquency which was the theme of the convention. Swim: Zacmcdf Qaaenlian Sendcvz Play 'Down to Satin AS TWO ANGELS are decending down to earth to pick up a couple of elderly souls, they are joined by a would-be angel who has only one wing. When they arrive on earth, Pilone, the half-angel, gets into so much mischief that it looks as if the angels might be stranded on earth. Pilone has the power to make people fall in love just by a kiss and, strangely enough, makes the two victims, Augusta and Herman, fall in love: thus making them take a stronger grip on life. Unless the angels can find two substitute souls who are willing to go they'll be stranded on earth. Diana, Augusta's frustrated maid, who had just been jilted for the eleventh time, suddenly and dramatically qualifies as an angel. Pilone, who has fallen in love with Diana, becomes a full-fledged angel so as to be near Diana always. He's re- warded with his other wing and it ends with the four angels concentrating on their ascent back to heaven. Much of the money the club made throughout the year was used for a trip to Chicago. THESPIAN is the national dramatics club of M. H. S. Member- ship may be earned by 100 hours of work in acting, staging, and make-up. Under the leadership of its new sponsor, Mr. Lemmer, and the president, Mary Io Vance, the Thespians were very active. The club presented a Christmas play, went to contest, and put on a Variety Show. At the end of the school year, the Thespians held a formal initiation. First Huw: li. Inman. X. lla-mp. lliuis. I. The members earn pins for hours spent in helping the director, Mrs. lustus, with her Work. The club was not very active this year, but did sponsor several skat- ing parties. The officers are President, Dorothy Long, Vice- President, Carol Hall, Sec.-Reporter, Donna Hamilton, Treasur- er, Nancy Senn. CWM ANYONE WHO IS INTERESTED in photography should join the Photo Club. This organization learns about taking better pictures, and about developing and enlarging them. The group has built a darkroom in the ping-pong room, and this has helped it to function more actively. Mr. Howard, the spon- sor, has devoted much time and effort to further the interest of the club. Fiore 66245 lfrmil linux lt. Xllirtl. ll. l7.tI1l. l'. lltmtlvii. ll. lluylt-. Xlr. Nlttrtw'ny. Your sophomore year was filled with every- one working hard trying to raise money for the future Ir.-Sr. Banquet and Prom. One of your money-making schemes was the selling of banner buttons. Your junior year was busier yet. Another suc- cessful source of income was the food sales - fresh country butter, eggs, and home made pies and cakes. We also presented the very successful three- act play, Stag Line for two consecutive nights. You'1l always remember the many long hours of working at night making nut cups and de- corations for the Ir.-Sr. Banquet and Prom in which the theme was Stairway to the Stars. Your senior year, seemingly the shortest, was filled with many exciting events and was high- lighted with the very different kind of class play, Down to Earth, which was a tremen- dous hit with everyone, young and old. Everyone enjoyed the Cabaret Dance with its pink and black night club theme and its nine big acts. The last time you and your senior friends were together as a group was on the class trip. Now, as the last of your high school days are over, you realize it means the last year with all your friends, many of whom have been with you since grade school.
