'41 want facts, is a statement heard frequently by everyone aboard the U.S.S. Macomb. And the man who utters that statement usually gets the facts. After graduating from the U.S.S. Prairie State with a commission of Ensign in September, 1941. LCDR Hutchinson was assigned to the Destroyer U.S.S. Dewey, one of the ships at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. Following duty on the Dewey, he went to the U.S.S. Haraden, also a destroyer, where he remained as Executive Officer until July 1945. During Wo1'ld War II LCRD Hutchinson took part in ten major operations. Included are the Pacific Raids, Coral Sea, the Guadalcanal and Tulagi Landings, the Solomon and Aleutian Operations and the Philippine Island Landings. Since the war he has served as. Officer in Charge of the Officer Intake Center in New Orleans, Louisiana and attended the General Line School at Newport, Rhode Island and the Post Graduate School at Annapolis. ln addition LCDR Hutchinson has had duty as Assistant Communications Officer, Flag Secretary and Aide to the Commander Naval Forces Western Pacific. He served on the staff of Commander Joint Task force THREE, who tested atomic weapons at Eniwetok, just prior to coming to the U.S.S.
