We give and bequeath, freely and without reservations to the Junior Class, our rightful heirs, our self-satisfaction, our importance, our wisdom, our Senior privileges and the special favor that we have had with the Principals. To the Sophomores we leave our positions as the largest and the most privileged class in high school. To the Freshmen we leave our positions in the Glee Club, that is, the ones not already taken . To the Faculty we leave peaceful days and restful nights--no longer will they have to worry when we skip school or leave the school ground without permission. Tommy Abell leaves his ability to have two girlfriends without either one being iealous to Darrell Harmon. Cletus Anderson wills his privilege to be the first Senior boy married to Alfred Taylor. Dixie Arnold leaves her ability to get out of school in three and a half years to Wilna Hall. Glenn Arnold leaves his front row chair in English class to Danny Milburn. lIMaybe it'll help you, Dannyi. Sherrill Baker wills his ability to keep girls supplied with chewing gum to Jerry Burns. Eugene Bishop gives his good habit of listening to Billy White. KNOW, Billy, you won't be talking all timei. Jackie Black leaves .Joetta, but not for anyone else, because after all she's wearing a ring. June Bland, Brenda Bottoms, and Sara Settles leave their ability to giggle about anything to every sad sack that enters the school. Mary Faye Carpenter leaves her quietness to Sue Crady. fMaybe you won't be called down in class anymore, Suel. Billy Carey leaves his position on the basketball team to Bruce Holderman . Tony Curtsinger leaves his ability to drive his brother's car almost as much as he does to Ronnie Stumph. Evalon Darland leaves her skating ability to Brenda Turner. l 1 Norman Darland leaves his station wagon flkel to Judy M. Shewmaker. Martha Grider and Marvin Shewmaker leave their ability to leave school without questions at II:3O to anyone who has trouble getting C away from school . K Lorna Hall wills her ability to skip English class in order to attend the Junior class meetings to the next Junior-Senior student. Virginia Holderman leaves her vocal ability to Emma Belle Goode. Charles Young leaves his place of selling drinks at ball games to ' Donald Mattingly. In witness whereof we, the class of I957, the testator, have sei' our hand and seal on this twenty third day of May in the year , of I957. f f s 4 : Q Compliments I of MALONE'S JEWELRY CECIL McMILLIN -SPRINGFIELD SUN PAT GRIGSBY BEN FRANKLIN STORE CHARLES E. MONTGOMERY ROBERTSON'S Springfield, Kentucky Springfield, Kentucky PROPHECY A gentle rain has just fallen and a beautiful rainbow has settled around Mackville High School. In the year 1967 a reunion was held by the seniors of '57. First to arrive upon the scene is the former Patsy Russell, not a schoolteacher, but housewife who is helping her husband on their farm south of Mackville. No sooner had the happenings of Patsy been told than June Bland arrived in a new Cadillac. Her taxi-driving wages had increaded so she could drive a Cadillac for pleasure trips. Who's next? Why it's Charles Young who must be at least 6'7" You have probably read his advertisements in the Saturday Evening Post on "Have girls turned you down because you're too short? Then try Grow-Taller" Qthat's his formulal. It must be good. While strolling down the hall we met Lorna Hall who has just returned from Cuba. She earns her money by taking care of Frances and Stanley Yaste's children while they attend school. ls that Billy Carey in those western duds? By golly, it isl Billy liked F.F.A. so well he went to Texas to farm and is now running for governor of that state. Standing beside him are two of the best Home Economics teachers in the state, Joylyn and Ruth. Both are now teaching at the University of Kentucky. They even teach some of their own theories fthose lucky kids learning simple termsl. Speaking of kids, have you seen Evalon and Paul's two sets of twins? Yes, Evalon surprised us and married Paul Key. They are living in a New York hotel until their new home is completed. Paul plans to continue his practice as horse doctor when he moves to his new farm home. Eugene Bishop over in the corner doing just what he likes--loafing. He goes when and where he pleases and leaves a girl in every port. Next to him is Jackie Black, who thought he was going to get married. Well, he was turned down so he joined the Foreign Legion to mend his broken heart. Our next classmate is Glenn Arnold who after graduation took up mortician work with his father and later married Rosemary Yancey. See that brunette over therel How did you know it was Virginia? She now has her own television program for singers. Remember what a struggle Hunter Shewmaker had with commerce. It's funny, but he now has Mr. Rowland's place in the M.H.S. faculty line-up. Yes, Jackie Key still looks the same. He made so much money working for Billy Simpson, a chain store owner, that he has now purchased the Key Super Markets in Kentucky. Brenda has not arrived yet. Her telephone operating keeps her terribly busy nowadays, so she will probably be a little late. Mary Faye is still the quiet, friendly girl she used, to be. She has been in college, but is home for a rest because she wasted so much time trying to save it that she's a nervous wreck, but she will soon go back. 22 Large towns attract some Folks and small ones attract others but, Tommy and Leon lfriends to the end, run the Er-Mar Motel located half way between earth and Mars. This is their first journey to earth since their motel opening. Dixie and Patsy Lee now are working together in Shrine Hospital in Los Angeles as they both love children. Dixie is a technician and Patsy a matron in the hospital to direct the children 's recreation. Cletus Anderson is now a well to-do business man in California. Where are Norman Darland and Brent Riley? They went to Australia for their health, but their pictures were in the New York Herald as exploring unknown territory and as big game hunters. Youpve heard of Las Vegas. That's where Sherrill Baker went. He now owns the Silver Dollar, the biggest gambling house in the country. Las Vegas is also where the Mile Long Bar is located. This is now run by another classmate, Connie Riley. Our next classmate to arrive is Sara Settles who now runs a modeling school, which isn't too much of a surprise. Before going home we all hope to visit the Shewmaker farm, a 500 acre farm owned by Marvin Shewmaker. As you know he married Martha Dell about five years ago and they now have around IOOO hogs which they will sell to many large packing companies. Tony Curtsinger, our truck driver, helps Marvin by transporting his hogs at selling time. Our--witty classmate, Sue, is now teaching aschool for comedy actors in England. She really enjoys her work and keeps the crowd alive. She is at home for a visit. Sue, since you are a traveling teacher will you lead us in our old school song. This reminiscing must have put Ruth and Connie in a mellow mood. There they are holding hands like old times. Maybe we'll have another marriage in the class, yet.
