Zenaida Bautista lives in Manila in the Philippines. She was 7 years old on March 9, 1974. Zeny is quite enthusiastic about going to school in June 1974. She will be in grade 1. Zeny loves to play. She gets along well with her peers, Nene and Joel. She enjoys playing with bending body , hide-and-seek, and running a race. Zeny helps in the household chores. She does the dishes, runs errands and sometimes she babysits her small siblings. There are nine other Bautista children between the ages of 21 and 1. The two eldest sons, Mario, who is 21 years old, and Eusebis, who is 16 years old, help their father in fishing while Maria Teodora, who is 18 years old, is a store helper. She earns $6.00 a month. The family lives in a rural area that is an hour and a half drive from Manila. The house is made of palm leaves, bamboo, lumber, and galvanized iron sheets. It is rented at $3.35 a month. They enjoyed the celebration of the Yuletide with palutang (native delicacy made of glutinous rice), chow mein with fried chicken and bread. The Bautista ' s have had many a hard time, but have been helped through the Foster Parents ' Plan. They avail themselves of the services of Plan ' s medical and dental clinic whenever needed. Through our contribution, the Bautista ' s are being helped and given the care that they need.

Alone to Die I reached for you but you weren ' t there To give me love, does no one care? Alone again, no chance, no hope, I reach for death for I just can ' t cope. I sit alone in my dreary room, Is no one there to prevent my doom? Where is the joy that others share? Must I alone have pain to bear? The time is near, the moon is high A perfect moment; 1 choose to die. Please think of me without disgust Just give to others the love and trust, That somehow always passed me by And left me here alone to die. Shirley Barton
