I wish to extend a warm welcome to the students and staff of the Mack School of Nursing, which in September, 1973, officially became a part of Niagara College, and a Division of the School of Applied Arts and Health Sciences. It is with considerable pride that we begin this alliance at a time when the Mack School is preparing to celebrate its 100th Anniversary. Our aim is to see this union grow to benefit nursing education in this province. During its long span of operation, Mack has become one of most respected Schools of Nursing in Canada. What has made the School a great one, is the dedication of the people who have been a part of it, and particularly, the excellent quality of its graduates. I am certain that the graduates of the. centennial year will similarly distinguish themselves in the service of their fellowmen as have past graduates of this institution. As graduates of the Class of ' 74 embark on their careers in nursing, may I extend to them my wishes for success and satisfaction in this noble calling. I. J. Giancarlo, Dean School of Applied Arts and Health Sciences

1973 was the year in which nursing education moved from a hospital setting to that of education. The Niagara College of Applied Arts and Technology became responsible for the Mack School of Nursing on September 1, 1973. The transition was accomplished in a very short period of time and with very few problems. All of us had concerns and questions as we dealt with the numerous details of the transfer. The College had to learn a great deal about nursing education. What were its objectives, traditions, unique features? Nursing students and teaching staff wondered what the change would mean in terms of program, procedures, identity, i j Not all questions have been answered yet. But we have found that we have KKf much in common. The philosophy of providing a sound theoretical base. ■1 B g m coupled with extensive practical training, is shared by nursing and other College H H HH H programs. Because of this philosophy, the association of the Mack School of Kj H Nursing with the Niagara College of Applied Arts and Technology should prove advantageous in maintaining the standards, traditions and identity of nursing education. 1974 is the Mack Centennial Year. It is an appropriate occasion to note the outstanding contribution of the Mack School of Nursing since its inception. Your preparation for a worthwhile career in nursing is the result of much work on the part of the faculty in developing, improving and perfecting your program of instruction. For you to have measured up to the high standards of the Mack School of Nursing should be a matter of justified pride. To all of you I extend my very best wishes for peace and success. A.S. Manera, President.

I would like to thank all those who have participated in putting Dedications. . .together. Without the people who took pictures, typed, banked, sold mints and nuts, and sold ads, Dedications. . . would not be. The Alumni is also to be commended for their support, faith and interest in the school. It is through their work that we experience what the traditions of Mack have meant and will mean. I would also like to thank Miss L. Willms and Miss A. Workman for their faith and advice which they gave in desperate times. Special thanks go to Patti Paolozzi, assistant editor, and Mr. Del Goranson, ICP Representative, who were always there to lend a helping hand. May I wish my heartiest congratulations to the Graduating Class of ' 74, and my sincerest best wishes to the first graduating class from The Mack Centre of Nursing Education Class of ' 75. As you leaf through the pages of Dedications. . . .enjoy. . . and remember for Dedications. . . is you. Sincerely, Mary M. Magee
