The nursing staff of the St. Catharines General Hospital extend sincere con- gratulations and good wishes to the 1974 graduates of the Mack School of Nursing. This year we are celebrating the centennial of the school and you have chosen for your yearbook the theme Dedications . As you begin the practice of your profession 1 would like to leave with you the following quotation. Where you are is of no moment but only what you are doing there. It is not the place that enables you but you the place; and this only by doing that which is great and noble . Petrarch. (Mrs.) L. R. Flight. Director of Nursing Service. God has given us a memory that we might have roses in December James Barrie once wrote. Our memory keeps alive the good and true things we experience in June, that is in the beautified times of our lives. It recalls these cheering experiences to give us strength in the dark and difficult December of our lives. This year your school celebrates its one-hundredth anniversary and many memories are brought to life again as former graduates recall the joys of their graduation day. It is my wish for you that the memory of your graduation will be the sustain- ing force to help you meet the challenges of the future with much joy, hope, courage and peace. May I, on behalf of the Sisters and staff of Hotel Dieu Hospital, congratulate you on being the 100th class to graduate from the Mack School of Nursing and wish you many happy memories as you celebrate the achievement of your long awaited goal--your own graduation day. Marjorie Hemphill

This is a time of change. You are living through an era in the human scene that challenges established ideas and institutions. In the presence of these challenges and changes it is easy to lose sight of the basic values of the nursing profession. This year of 1974, marks your school ' s Centennial Year , many years of dedicated service to a grateful public. For two brief years you have had many experiences. You have found friends with whom you laughed, studied, cried and rejoiced. Now you must leave many of these friends and go forth to use your knowledge and skills to serve others. In doing this you will grow and be enriched in life. With your rejoicing is a tinge of sadness — the ending of an era, The Mack School of Nursing . Remember always with pride the values and opportunities given to you by Mack . Set goals for yourself, then strive for new ones. May life ' s challenge never leave you. My warmest wishes to each one of you. Rita M. Grobb, R.N. Director of Nursing, The Shaver Hospital for Chest Diseases The Nursing Staff of the Welland County General Hospital join me in extending to you sincerest congratulations on your graduation from the Mack Centre Nursing Program 1972-74. These two years of your nursing program are particularly important in that they have been marked by historically significant events both for yourselves and for your school of nursing. Firstly, in September 1973, you have witnessed the transfer of your nursing program to the Niagara College of Applied Arts and Technology. Thus, student nurses have now become colleagues with students of other educational programs which will be a definite asset to your basic education. We are also sharing with you in the fact that 1974 is the Centennial year of the Mack School of Nursing. Therefore you can be proud that you have been part of a great school which was a first in North America and whose program of nursing education has been second to none in this continent. May you continually develop your abilities and learn new skills as you progress in the practice of your nursing career. Yours sincerely, Miss Agnes Fleury, Director of Nursing.
