Graduation for each of you is an important occasion. It brings to a close one phase of life and transports you into another. It marks the end of two years of preparation for your life ' s work, and opens for you at last that long-awaited door. Each of you has brought to Mack special gifts from which we all have benefited. In turn, you are taking away with you other gifts which you have earned through study and friendships with faculty and students. These are lasting gifts which light the road ahead. While it can be said that only a fool truly believes that he can live his life the way he plans it, we must nevertheless have plans and hopes. You will find that your destinies are determined in ways that you could never have planned. Being a competent master of your task, so that you may serve both loyally and well, will be the best guarantee of your success. To each of you I extend a warm congratulation. Your teachers join me in expressing the wish that each of you may enjoy a full measure of personal and of professional accomplishment. May life open to you, door by door; may you find yourself the ability to trust it, and the courage to give to the difficult the most confidence of all. Principal

In life there is a time for joy and a time for tears. As nurses you have and will know times filled with the joys of helping and healing, and times filled with the tears of frustration. You as nurses will live life to its fullest. Kahlil Gibran wrote Work is love made visible . As you begin working in your nursing careers, remember, you have a unique responsibility to make every aspect of your work an act of love; love for the nursing craft and more important, love for all humanity. Remember also, no act of love is too small or too large for the heart and hands of living persons. Love and work for your family, friends, profes- sion and yourself. For if you do, you shall grow as a nurse and as a human being. All the staff here at the Shaver Hospital for Chest Diseases congratulate each and every one of you, the class of 1973, and wish for you the best things of living and loving. (Mrs. M. A.) Rita M. Grobb, R.N. Director of Nursing The Shaver Hospital For Chest Diseases. On behalf of the Sisters and staff of Hotel Dieu Hospital, may I take this opportu- nity to offer you our heartiest congratulations and to wish you success and fulfill- ment in your nursing career. (Mrs.) J. F. Hemphill Director Nursing Service.
