6 THE MARGARETTA lx biought about an increase in labor saying machines which put men out of sxoik and caused the depression thus putting us where we are today in a chaos Speed has been the cause of vsars unemployment deaths and fallures Economic social and pol1t1cal changes have been brought about so quickly that many nations are unable to keep abl east of the times As a lesult half of the people may be modern while the othel half may be old fashion This may cause rexolutlon or exen ClVll wais One needs only to go to a city iNew Yolk for examplel to see speed People vsalk fast llde fast and vwolk fast One can easily see that swift changes cause the human race to always hurry in order to keep in harmony mth the times Speedy economic political and social changes have raised hax oc with th ssoild and paltlcularlv vuth the United States Economic changes have been biought about too svuftly As a result of this millions of Americans are without iobs and millions more are in veiy poor financial condition Strikes and Laboi Un1ons haxe been formed to protect the laborer from the capital ists but they haxe only caused ill feelings between these two classes of mdus tual men Not only are these conditions in Ameuca but also in many more count11es thioughout the wo1ld Political changes are plainly evident Nations have been changing their forms of gox ernment continually dovsn through the decades especially since the Wolld War Wars and C1X1l wars are being waged today because nations attempt to change governments or to widen their scope of political influence armaments The United States sells scrap iron to Japan which she may get in the back in the form of bullets Armies and navies are building up their stlength as fast as they can 1n order to be prepared for another war to end vials POlltl al changes have placed dlCt3t0lS in charge of nations such as Russia Italy and Germany With great zest and speed these men have been the cause of false patriotism stinging nationalism and greedy 1mper1al1sm These men can cause a war to end wars if anyone can Just leave the matter mth them They will take care of it good care of it They are such fine upright and outstanding men They are eamples of men who will die for their countly or give their life to save the world if all their subjects could only die H1 st They are examples of a dust statue A little puff from a real man will cause them to clumble mto ruins These men and thelr forms of gox ernment haxe been cast upon us because we t1y to progress too fast Thele ale also many evidences of social changes There are three distinct classes of people in any country Ewen ln Amerlca the land of equal rights for both men and women there are distinct classes of people The rich the middle class and the pool Classes in America as in other countries depend upon money The mole money one has the higher the class to which he be longs As 1 iesult of speedy economic changes social changes are evident v . , a K K . y . -.
