A storv ranging trom the lightest side ot Macalester lite to the most serious, is told in the pictures in this yearbook. You vvill notice a detinite change in the presentation ot Macalester lite depicted in these pages, as compared with that presented in previous biennials. Using a tormula designed to achieve liveliness, the statt placed emphasis on the use ot intormal pic- tures, The tull torce ot the journalism department's photography statt, the largest and best ot any college ot comparable size in the nation, vvas brought into use. Formal senior, tacultv and organization pictures vvere dropped in favor ot informal pictures, and the procedure marks the tirst in which all pictures vvere taken by Macalester students. ln the matter ot malaeup, nevv picture thrills are supplied through the use ot many tull page shots. Cutlines tollovv the Mac Weel4lv's short, punchv, adiectival style. Many nevv teatures have been added. A beautv section including aueens, aueen candidates, the use ot the all college picture and treshman girls' picture are innovations.
