A big part of the welcome that MacMurray extends each fall to new students revolves around tradition. The Green Ribbon ceremony has been an annual oc- currence since 1928. Freshmen women have a green ribbon tied around the neck by a big sister, and are instructed to wear the ribbon for four days. The highly visible ribbon signifies that eh student is being initiated as a MacMurray Woman. The feeling of moving in and getting acquainted is yet another activity that builds bonds of friendship between freshmen and upperclassmen. Mac ' s small size also en- ables students to get to know one another much more quickly. One of the fall activities that brought students together for a common experience is shown in the middle photo where Jane Hall residents gather to dedicate a new crosswalk that they all worked on. 5 5. Alexandra Murdock gets a helping hand moving in. 6. The residents of Jane Hall and Mrs. Stephens initiate the new side walk. 7. Lisa Bruce and Bryan Tate helping a freshman get settled in.

Student life on the campus of MacMurray is definite- ly a unique life. Among the organizations, the flourishing groups are Holy Fools and Campus Activities Board. The IM games, especially football and volleyball, are very popular and bring about large audiences. Even though extra curricular activities are fun, Mac students must get serious and study (well, most Mac Students). J-Term and Final Exam Week are when stu- dents burn the midnight oil . Freshmen had a good dose of sleepless nights when they practiced procrastina- tion and ended up walking to class like zombies the next day. Popcorn for brain food and hot pots that boil con- tinuously for coffee lend a hand to getting those papers finished. On nights when no immediate assignments are due, discussions catch fire. Topics? Love, death, emo- tions, other people, fashions, and of course, the opposite sex. 1 Roomies — Connie Chism and Susan Denby. 2. Birthday decorations frame Amy Henninger. 3. Lee Dixon and Doug Miller — a pair of cool dudes. 4. Tony Cundari, Amy Suter and Melissa Delgado paint monstrous footprints. 5. A popular spot finds Todd Stephens and Julie Goulden enjoying the swing just east of the soccer field. 6. Becky Rackmyer, Amy Henninger, Connie Chism and friend get acquainted. 7. T.J. Johnston attempts to outrun the opposition in an IM football game.
