10 One change in Mac that, as a senior, makes me most unhappy is the segregation of the freshmen from the rest of the college. I can remember how much I learned by living with upperclassmen, especially in that first year. I have not been able to share with these new people what I have learned so that they may evaluate my ideas and shape their own. I do not feel my influence is a corrupting one, nor do I think anyone can protect a person of college age from a corrupting influence. Therefore, I still cannot see what is gained by the Treshman Experience ' , I can only feel a loss. — a senior I think if the students are unsettled with these changes it should be a challenge to them to work toward what they think would be realistic goals, and then set about making themselves heard. I speak from two different vantage points and would like to add that what people want and what they need are sometimes poles apart, and one should be realistic from this point of view. Since college is a learning experience socially as well as academically, and maturity is the focal point in both these areas, there should be freedom for growth. If the changes are stifling the growth in either area, then the changes should be reversed. — anonymous I believe that one of the ' cancers ' of the MacMurray Campus is the unhealthy atmosphere which pervades the dorms. To be more explicit, I have had many complaints that the dorms are noisy at the times which the concerned students want to study. If the students cannot provide their fellow students with respect, then I feel the administration must take steps to improve the situation. I have been given the impression also that a disregard for established rules such as drinking and indulgence in drugs have been hurting the image of the other students here who long for a more mature regard for law and order. — a faculty member
