The ending of the twentieth year of the lVlacDufhe self-help 'system is an example of the success of lVlacDuHie cooperation and student government, in which all students participate. The students are responsible for keeping their rooms, dormitories, and dining-room clean and neat. All share this responsibility equally and are guided by a group of eleven seniors. These seniors are prefects and hold the responsibility of supervising the duties, heading the student government and working together to handle minor disciplinary problems. It is a great honor and privilege to he a prefect at MacDuflie. The prefects are chosen by Dr. Rutenber, with the help of the student body and faculty, and they are announced at Commencement in June. The senior prefect is responsible for organizing and co-ordinating the other prefects. This years prefects were: Marcia Baylock, Howard Hall, Pat Olcott, Downing Hall, Cathy Hinge, Castle House, Barbara Wyckoff, Main House, Laurie Scott, Head of dining room, Lyn Carter and Jackie Rector, Dining-roomg and Anne Vail, Wallace Hall and Senior prefect.
