The Class History Al lasl lhe long awailed day had co me. We were high school sludenls and had our own desks in sludy-hall. For mosl ol us who had been here since grammar school days, lhis was quile a lhrill. There were six ol us who had allended MacDullie before. They were: Barbara Rowe, Nonny Edge- low, Belly Thomas, Julie-Ann l-lovey, Diana Spoerl, and Nancy Brodeur. We were joined by lhree more girls-Polly l-luggan lrom Brookline, Mass.: Nancy Dick lrom Longmeadow, Mass., and Mary Irwin from Springfield, Mass. Barbara Rowe was elecled presidenl, and Nancy Brodeur and Polly Huggan represenled us on lhe Sludenl Council. Our reporler lor lhe Magnel was Nancy Brodeur. ln lhe fall ol I944, Nonny, Barbara, Julie, and Nancy Dick were no longer among our ranks, bul we were joined by Elizabelh Pulnam ol Slo rrs, Conn.: Rue Forsland ol New York Cily, Nan Vail ol Brewsler, N. Y.: Margol Fisher ol Dedham, Mass., and Priscilla Loring ol Wesl Springlield, Mass.Thal year Polly l-luggan was elecled presidenl, and Polly and Nan Vail represenled us on lhe Sludenl Council. Our Sophomore year found us in lhe midsl ol all aclivilies. Many ol us look lrips wilh lhe newly organized Ouling Club, look parl in plays given by lhe Dramalic Club, and sang in lhe concerls given by lhe Glee Club. Nan Vail and Polly were chosen lor lhe Leaders' Corps. We also had several budding journalisls in our midsl among whom were Belly Thomas and Nan Vail, who repre- senled us on lhe Magnel. We ended our Sophomore year wilh lhe realizalion lhal we were 'Finally upperclassmen. Pris Loring and Diana Spoerl did nol relurn lo MacDu llie in 'lhe fall ol our Junior year, bul we welcomed several newcomers among whom were Pal Dunn lrom San Francisco, Cal.: Sandra Cone lrom Easl l-lamplon, Conn.: Judy Hill from Brimlield, Mass.: Shirley Edwards from l-lillon Village, Va.: Ann l-lanilin lrom Belcherlown, Mass., and Pal Pallerson lrom Springfield, Mass. Polly was re-elecled class presidenl, and Mary lrwin, Nan Vail, and Polly l-luggan re presenled us in lhe Sludenl Council. Nan Vail and Pal Dunn were elecled Assisla nl Edilors ol lhe Magnel, Nancy Brodeur was Alumnae Edilor and Assislanl Business Manager, and Belly Thomas and Polly l-luggan were reporlers. Pal Dunn, Nancy Brodeur, and Rue Forsland were chosen lor lhe Leaders' Corps lhal year. In planning our Prom, we decided lo be original, and broke lradilion by having our Prom al Chrislmas lime in lhe ballroom ol lhe l-lolel Sheralon. This is one dance lhal none ol us will ever lorgel. Lasl lall we came back lo school exalled Seniors. We were joined by Joan Palmer ol Wesl Springfield, Mass.: Rulh McCarlhy ol We sllield, Mass., and Mary Carman, ol New Caslle, Ind. Polly enlered her lhird lerm as presidenl. As Senior Prelecl, Polly had under her charge lhree boarding Prelecls and one Day-l-lop Prelecl, namely: Nan Vail, Shirley, Edwards, Margol Fisher, and Belly Thomas. Nan was also elecled presidenl ol lhe Sludenl Council. Pal Dunn became Edilor-in'Chiel ol lhe Magnet and Nancy Brodeur look over her dulies as Business Manager. We have already had lwo class oulings-one al Judy l-lill's and one al Pul's. As lhe days lly by and our lime al MacDullie becomes shorler, we lind ourselves in lhe midsl ol preparalions lor our Prom, Senior week-end, and gradualion. ll is wilh deep regrel lhal we will leave our Alma Maler, and il is our sincere hope lhal in lulure years we may live up lo lhe high ideals which have been sel lor us by MacDullie.
