D i Mac Capital Hill 12 S 12 MacArthur After battling to a 0 - O halftime score, the Highlanders ran out of gas and fell to a disappointing 13-0 loss in their season opener. Mac regained its winning form by blanking the Huskies 28-0. Bryan Dalton, who was named Coca-Cola Prep Player of the Week , rushed for 180 yards in 20 carries to lead the Highlanders to a stunning Victory! The Highlanders, after battling neck Bt neck with the 4A power- house until the closing seconds, fell short- losing 28-26 despite a good offensive showing. For the second year in a row, the Big Mac Machine man-handled the Comets, this year taking a 55-O victory. This win featured touchdowns being scored by seven different players on the High- lander squad. Rising to the occasion, the Highlanders scored 21 points in the first half, and held on during the second half to gain a surprising 21-15 upset win over the 41 ranked Tigers. Bryan Dalton and Tyrone Gipson led the offensive charge, gaining 152 and 103 yards, respectively. Big Mac, bidding revenge against the Demons Cwho halted our State Championship bid a year agoj, exhibited a good showing on Homecoming night but fell short on the scoreboard, 3-O. An excellent showing by both defenses kept the scores down. In a struggling defensive battle, the Highlanders fought furiously against the 4A toughy - but fell short 7-6 on an intercepted pitch that was returned for a touchdown. Although Altus is known for their passing game, Big Mac came away with 3 interceptions. RECORD: 3 wins - 4 losses After 433 Raymond Thompson scored this touchdown, a fellow Highlander and an opponent it!?! Big Mac played the spoiler in this game by taking a decisive 35 12 victory over the Redskins on their Homecoming The Mean Green Machine offense churned up 370 yards on the ground and an other 139 yards in the passing department for a total of 510 While the offense was shining the defense was also looking good intercepting 2 passes and recovering 2 fumbles After Mac spotted the Yellowjackets 3 points on a field goal the Highlanders finally got rolling and coasted to an impressive 33 3 win While Senior tailback Bryan Dalton was racking up 176 rush h Ctaw ing yards the DEFENSE was doing their thing by snatching 4 r Mac C O Choctaw ariels Ned Babb Grady Shoemaker Raymond Thomp i son and Tyrone Turner had one theft each Mac entered the game as the favorite but Chickasha pulled an c upset by defeating the Highlanders 22 21 on a last second 2 point conversion The loss offset a brilliant performance by tailback t Mac Chlckasha 2 Bryan Dalton who gained 191 yards on 18 carries Although disappointed with the loss Big Mac still reigned as DISTRICT CHAMPS 122 Athletes in Action RECORD: 5 wins - 5 losses
