PRESIDENT Dear CLASS of 1958: LAMBERT E. BROAD, B.A., M.A. ,Iust as a rocket must be guided by a controller, so the Mining and Mechanical Institute must be directed by an able administrator. Our President, Lambert E. Broad, capably executes his duties with vigor, integrity, understanding, patience, fairness, and logical thinking. The problems of the students are of prime importance to Mr. Broad. Because of his sincere devotion to the welfare of the individual and the school, we of M.M.I. regard him with confidence and respect. PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE During the past year a great deal has been said in various educational conferences and the public press about the need for sound and challenging education. After all of the discussions they usually come up with a suggestion for a program of offerings or curriculum like your course at M.M.I. Sound training is as good for the SATELLITE age as for any other. You are, therefore, fortunate in having gone through a system which the present day people consider imperative for our leaders of the future. The ideas you learned and the ideals that you developed at M.M.I. will stand you in good stead in furthering your education and in taking your place in the world. Remember that the advantages you have been offered here were possible because of the interest of forward looking citizens and alumni. You are now ready to assume your responsibilities for your further education and the work-a-day world in order that you may, in the future, also help your fellow men and youth toward their even brighter future. Congratulations upon the publication of the 1958 MINAMEK. Best Wishes I 1. President

-FACULTY- ANDREW J. STOFAN, B.A., M.A. We are truly indebted to Mr. Stofan for guiding us through higher mathematics and preparing us for college. We became highly absorbed and interested in his classes and marveled at his complete mastery of mathematics. The Class of '58 still is trying to ascertain where Mr. Stofan got all his information about our night life. We will always remember Mr. Stofan for his good advice, the lighter moments of his class, and his fine ideals. ALBERT P. GOEDECKE, B.S. Mr. Goedecke has earned the respect and admiration of the students through his hard work and the personal care he takes in the problems of every student. This year he capably directed the basketball team through another successful season. He demonstrated his ability as a coach when he brought the NPreppers into con- tention in the Anthracite League after a slow start. We will always remember Mr. Goedecke, not only as the coach, but also as a fine instructor and friend. JOSEPH L. STARK, B.S. Mr. Stark, one of our capable advisers, certainly gave us a fine background i-n English, literature, and theme and research paper writing. His philosophy that hard work is the only means of success will certainly be beneficial to us in the future. As adviser of the FLASHES, Mr. Stark contributed clever ideas and much time to the betterment of the paper. The class of '58 will always think of him as a man interested in the students' future.
