1968 Homecoming festivities began with a bonfire held on Wednesday, October 16, on the practice football field, At this time the queen and king candidates were presented to the student body by H, C,,MarkHedemann, Mr, Edward Kruse gave a pep talk, Miss Hanan told a story, and cheers were led by the cheerleaders, The bonfire ended with a snake dance, At our pep rally on Friday after- noon, October 18, Mary Jo Engelhardt was crowned Homecoming Queen, Mr, Busse gave a pep talk, and the football boys presented a skit, That night M-F-L had a football victory over Elkader with a score of 32-2, Wayne Erickson was crowned King by Queen Mary Jo Engelhardt at the Victory Dance, which followed the football 83m9. 4 'L A --W M-F-L 'ss First Try in Upper Iowa Conference Since 1968 was the first year for M-F-L in the Upper Iowa Conference, one might not have expected much from the team, However the Bulldogs had a fine record of four wins and three losses, All of the games were close and the Bull- dogs could not be counted out of any of them, Seven of the boys were named to all conference for 1968. Chosen for first team were Wayne Erickson, quarterback, ,, and Bruce Cowell, tackle. Second team all conference was Ron Henning, guard. Receiving honorable mention were Len Swestka, end, Clayton Honserud, guard, and Jim Lenth and Keith Steva, half- backs. CO-CAPTAINS AND COACHES ROW 1: D. Schultz, W. Erickson, C. Monserud, B.
