The new addition was anticipated not only by the teachers and students, but by the men behind it all, the school board. In the course of their three year terms, the school board members attend .SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS at least one meeting every month and any special ones that may be called. Their time and talents are devoted, without pay, to rnaking the school and the community a better place to live and learn. W'e're loyal to you M-F-L In March of 1967, the student coun- cil and a few faculty members chose cheerleaders for the 1967 and 1968 school year. when school began the following fall, regular practice sessions took place twice a week with extra prac- tice after school in order to be ready for the first game of the sea- son. The rest of the year was spent planning pop rallies , making posters, and doing what they could to make our teams successful. It begins in the sum er and continues into fall. There are two teams, varsity and junior var- sity, with ten players on each team. Since more girls were on the squad than were neededforthe teams, not all got to play, but all were needed. Instead of ex- changing gifts at Christmas, the Council asked students to give the money toward the support of an orphan. First, a student must qualify scholastical- lyby maintaining a 3.00 grade point average for seniors and a 3.20 average for juniors. They receive points for scholarship as follows: 8 points for 3.80-14.00, 7 points for 3.50-3.79, 6 points.forQ3.20-3.49, and 5 points for 3.00-3.19. Then faculty members who have had these students in class or in an activity, rate the students from 1-6 on service, leadership, and character.
