Searching among rscordswe discov- ered that the Ivana boys basketball team advanced to the state tournament in Des Moines in 1935 but were de- feated :Ln the first game. Marv residents remember that in 1951 and 1952 the girls of Monona advanced to the finals at the state tournament and finished as the run- ners up with Noma Schoulte receiving special recognition. As indicated in the picture, Far- mersburg produced a boys county bas- ketball conference winner in 1932-33.

NATIONAL HONOR socnew S7 Mr. Vangen served as master of ceremonies. Mr. Iau presenting Harlan Ihlen- feldt with a certificate naming him as a finalist in the National Merit Scholarship contest. On March 20, 1967, seven students were inducted into the Blanche Sherman chapter of the National Honor Society in the multi-purpose room of the Monona center. These students were selected by the faculty on the basis of character, scholarship, leadership, and servzlce. The program was planned by Donna Lou Scheffert and Harlan Ihlenfeldt, inductees of 1966, and a committee of the faculty. Special guests were parents of the members of the society. Following the program, a reception was held for the members, their parents, and faculty in the home economics room. Entertainment consisted of a vocal trio and instrumental duet. :Vi n..
