During this time, he had the same bus route south of Monona. Many boys and girls rode on his bus during their entire school years at M-F-L. Duties of a bus driver go far beyond safe driving. They include friendly encouragement to a reluctant first-day kindergarten pupil to a. stern repri- mand for youthful enthusiasm on the part of older boys and girls. He took a sincere interest in his passengers and awarded them with treats at Christmas and the last day of school. His acts of thoughtfulness and spon- taneous kindness endeared him to the students of M-F-L.
