BACCALAUREATE Baccalaureate services were held for the Senior Class of 1960 on May 15, at 8:00 P.M. in the high school auditorium. Rev. Nassen gave the sermon entitled Uwe Are Not Always what we Think we Are, But what we Think, We Areu. Roland Landsness sang nl Walked Today Where Jesus Walkedu, and the girls' sextet sang NPrayern. Marlene Meyer and Everett Hinrichs were chosen to lead the processional while Mrs. Mary Hueter provided the music. COMMENCEMENT Commencement exercises were held for the Senior Class of 1960 on May 20, at 8:00 P.M. in the high school auditorium. The commencement address entitled HA Promise,,Not A Victoryu was given by Dr. Charles Rowley. Alice Strain gave the Valedictory Address, and theSalutatory Address was given by Leah Schultz. The following awards were presented: Citizenship-Leah Schultz, Athletic-Darrell Dettmann, and Music-Shirley Grau. David Lohff received a pin for his outstanding scholastic ability. The Wilson Scholarship in the amount of 3100 was presented to Leah Schultz. Alice Strain and Larry Williams were presented with the Dettmann Memorial Scholarships in the amount of S100 each. The mixed chorus sang UNO Man ls An lslandu and Shirley Grau sang a solo. Holland Peyton, president of the school board, presented the class with their high school diplomas. Harriet Cross and Wallace Lott were chosen to lead the pro- cessional while Mrs. Mary Hueter provided the music. SENIOR CLASS POEM Our days are quickly passing by As the sun And thou h 8 lt is the place we like the For twelve About English, history, and sets in the West. we'll soon leave Lytton High, best. made a fuss art. long years we've But all these days behind us, will linger in our hearts. we'1l miss As we step Though all This world our teachers and our friends through 1ife's wide door. of us won't school attend, will teach us more. We'll think of Lytton constantly As we scatter far and wide, And we will admit frequently This school has been our pride. Yes, we have been the Senior Class, And now from here we'l1 part. Through life's wide open doors we'll pass with sad but happy hearts. If we are granted the knowledge, To know just what is right. Then give us the courage to do it For a future long and bright.
