CLASS N GIIT This year the senior class decided to sponsor a class night exclusively for the awarding of honors to those high school students deserving them. This .was to enable more parents to attend and put more emphasis on the high school group. Following the program, a dance was held with recorded music furnished by lerle Shentoff. Glenna Smith acted as master of ceremonies. N0 smoking awards were won by the following senior boys: Dean,Carlson, Duane Shadle Ronald Miller, John Everts, and David MacLean. ACCALAURE TE The Senior Class of 1956 held their Baccalaureate service at the Luth ern Church in Lytton Iowa on Hay 13 at 8 00 p m A very inspiring sermon entitled Is the Young Man Safe?' was given by Rev I C Nassen The class selected Don Ringgenberg and Leona Williams to lead the class in the processional and recessional while Karen Landsness Darlene Hatter,Ed Buster, and Leroy Meyer were selected as ushers MMENCEME T The Senior Class of 1956 held their commencement exercises in the school auditorium on Friday evening Hay 18 1956 at 8 00 p m The Commencement address was given by Rev L Nattress of Orange City The Valedictory and Salutatory addresses were given by Karen Smith and Janice Glasnapp respectivlly Glenna Smith tied with Janice for Salutatory honors but Janice was given preference for the speech because of herlonierlf tendance at Lytton High School Special awards were given to the following seniors Scholarship Karen Smith Citizenship David MacLean Athletics Glen Bartels Ivan Longman president of the school board pre ented the class with their diplomas The 1nvocation and benediction were given by Rev Gordon F MacLean Karen Landsness played for the processional and rece sional Judy Kreft and Dwight Carlson were chosen to lead the class SENHHI LASSHU'TORY The history of the 1956 class began when Mrs Blakey welcomed eighteen new students to her room Eight of the original class started together Those eight were Glen Bartels Ruth Boyd, Janice Glasnapp, Junith Glasnapp, COHD16 Kelley, Duane Peyton Duane Shadle and Karen Smith In the spring of 1951, the following students receivedtheireighth grade diplomas June Bardole, Glen Bartels, Ruth Boyd, Ellis Byriel, Dean Carlson, LaRue Ell1s, Carolyn Foley, Lois Freese, Janice Glasnapp, Junith Glasnapp Russell Hutchinson, Georgia Keiser, Connie Kelley, David MacLean, Charlotte Meyer Ronald Hiller Karen Oestreich Duane Peyton, Jane Rondestvedt, Duane Our freshman year we gained the following students Marvin Becker John Everts Rhonda Kreft Don Rix and Daryl Schade There were twenty four seniors who received their high school diplomas They are June Bardole, Glen Bartels, Ruth Boyd, Ellis Byriel, Dean Carlson, Marlene Cleland John Everts, Carolyn Foley, Lois Freese, Dale Greene, Janice Glasnapp, Junith Glasnapp, Russell Hutchinson, Georgia Keiser Connie Kelley, Rhonda Kreft, David MacLean, Ronald Hiller Karen Oestreith, Dugne Peyton, Karen Smith, Glenna Smith, Duane Shadle, and Daryl Schade , I . .
