The Lion Staff at work. I 1 This year's Lion, under the leadership of Ioanne Lindstrorn and Bich Carr, up- held its reputation as one of the country's top high school papers. The newspaper staff handled well the new problem of south campus coverage and circulation by creating a new staff position, South Campus Editor. ln all its endeavors the staff was aided by the tireless efforts of their advisor, Miss Keefe. The Lion staff has as usual attended a number of scholastic press meetings and conventions including a week-end con- vention in Champaign, Illinois. The press bureau department has, throughout the year, sent school news to the local newspapers. THE LION LION STAFF Row 1: L. Petersen, M. Schump, B. Starnm, K. Niernann, B. Knight, I. Lindstrom, B. This year, in addition to their annual undertakings, Boys' Club has had two special projects. One was the creation ot a George Hawkins' Memorial Scholarship Fund ot one hundred dollars, and the other was the presenting ot a motion picture camera to the school. Under the very competent direction oi Mr. David Gianuzzi and Mr. Carl Warkow, the Boys' Club dance was again highly successful as were the student direc- tory sales. Maris Pieka designed the cover of the direc- tory for the second successive year. SOUNDTRACK '57 Newly established this year, Sound- track '57 is a 33 lf3 long-playing rec- ord containing iamiliar sounds such as the Christmas Concert, Corral Show, Student Council elections, and basket- ball games ot the school year. The tour editors, Ioe Mate, lohn Hood, Bus- sell lohnson, and Art Boede, and the head oi publicity, loan Rendla, have worked hard to introduce a new pub- lication which would have quality through the use oi professional record- ing equipment, The actual record was printed by the Columbia Record Com- pany, and the cover design is the re- sult oi a cover contest.
