STUDENT COUNCIL Prairie- QB Row 1: T. Hansen, I. Cramer, I. Livermore, Treas.7 T. Curtright, Pres., B. Keck, VP, S. Dorpols Sec., B. Belloc. Row 2: Mr. Warkow, E. Freisinger, E. Dorpols, G. Wylie, G. Picha. This year's student council, again acting as the chief executive branch of LT's student gov- ernment, has been a highly efficient and pro- ductive one. Consisting of twenty-five mem- bers, the council was ably led by its officers. The remaining members represented the var- ious student council committees and organiza- tions throughout the school. Special thanks go to Mr. Warkow and Miss Banks for their gui- dance and assistance as sponsors. l956-l957 was a busy year for student coun- cil members since, in addition to their usual duties, they were faced with such problems as student government at the South Campus, presentation of the new code of ethics, and co- ordination of the social activities of both cam- puses. However, with the assistance of the representative assembly and the use of sev- eral guidance periods devoted entirely to stu- dent discussion, these problems soon vanished. The work of the many student council com- 1 I mittees was equally well done. The student council dances and pep assemblies, sponsored by Social Committee and School Spirit Com- mittee, were appreciated by everyone. The excellent work of the Club Management Com- mittee, became apparent to anyone who at- tended either Homecoming or the Club Car- nival. The new student tutoring files were utilized by many a needy student as were the participation files by many of the various com- mittee chairmen throughout the year. The Par- ticipation Committee was responsible for these files. The Business Management Committee provided student council with a sizeable a- mount of financial support from the profits of the sale of food at the football and basketball games, Citizenship Committee and Publicity Committee joined forces to do a commendable job of managing and publicizing the student elections. Other committees included tutoring, honor study halls, Newcomers, Gold and Blue Guide, and Student Guidance.
