THE 1964 LYONS ROAR Ed Studenka, receiving the key from Mr. Shaffer, realizes that this end is only the beginning of a search for individual accomplishment. published by SENIORS OF LYONS VILLAGE SCHOOL Lyons, Ohio Advisor; Miss Ruth Myers DEDICATION Standing: Mr. Richard Basich Seated: Mr. Virgil McGlamery We. the Class of 1964. take this opportunity to show our appreciation to these two men. by dedicating this annual to them. With their time. help, and effort, our high school years have taken form. So to you, Mr. Mc- Glamery. who gave us the foundation and start, both scholastically and activity-wise, for high school; and to you, Mr. Basich, who urged and proddea us throughout these past two years, we gratefully say thank-you. SENIORS Profiles of Courage would perhaps be an appropriate phrase for the class of 1964. We look with courage into the future with new visions in our scope. For some of us it means more schooling, for others it means a family and home of our own, but for all of us this change is a new phase of our lives. Our carefree teen years are fast fading into adulthood and responsibility is gaining more meaning than ever before. Yes, it’s been great fun and work, but these good times are ones we will always remember. ED PAWLICKI, President A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest man. F. F. A. 1,2, 3,4, F. F. In return, we re- ceive a smile, answers, understanding guidance, or whatever the situation calls for. Some teachers we've picked as our favorites and perhaps through their influence nave decided a future pertaining to the principles and ideas they taught. They have helped to mold and shape our minds as well as our characters. Through them, we have been exposed to thinking, discipline, respect, ambition, and other qualities which have and will affect our lives and values. Superintendent STANLEY R. The 1963 baseball season ended with an 8-2 record and Lyons as Fulton County Champs. We are trying to duplicate this past record. In basketball, although we didn't come out on top, it was a fairly rugged season with a record-breaking scorer and a team of steady, heady ball players. As spring approaches, a winning track team is anticipated. The year of calisthenics, training rules, home runs, and an individual 43 point game is coming to a close. The year has been both exciting and successful for participants anci spectators alike. LIBRARIANS THE ANNUAL STAFF The editor, after attending the yearbook workshop at Ohio University, organized and basically planned the book before the first meeting of the staff. Advertising sales, picture taking, layouts and copy were then the sequence of events. The rough draft was sent to the printing company to become what you have in front of you. The goal has been achieved-- a finished book to retain the events of the 1963-64 school year. EDITOR Sandy Hinkle ASSISTANT EDITOR Kay Derby EDITOR: Rosalee Fleming ASSISTANT EDITOR: Jeannie Nolan ADVISOR: Miss Ruth Myers PAPER STAFF Reporting, writing, checking, typing, rechecking, laying out, writing heads, stenciling, checking, and printing are all steps in putting out a paper. After attending Journalism camp at Ohio University last summer, our editor brought back a store of ideas ana innovations for the Roar. Following more rigid journalistic rules, the paper has undergone many changes this year. New lay-outs, writing styles, columns, stories, and features have been added. This year page editors were tried; tnrough this, the responsibility and work is divided among six people. This plan has proved itself successful. After being judged in competition, tne paper definitely has shown im- provement in most phases of journalistic quality.
