fyciCetUct ut Teachers, parents, and friends, it gives me great pleasure to receive this high honor for which I have worked in the past four years. I believe that I have received many benefits which will help me to achieve good citizenship. I hope that in the days to come I shall be a credit to Lyons High School, my Alma Mater. As I look back on the teachers I have had, I find that each one has left some impression on me, which will help me achieve the goal which I set for myself. I shall endeavor to make the most of these gifts which have been given me, in the earnest hope that I may someday pass them on to some boy or girl with whom I come in contact in my future life. As our high school days come to a close the Class of 53 will carry with them many memories of their associations with each other. I wish to thank all of you who have helped us, in any way, large or small, to achieve this milestone. Mary Ellen Sargent We, the Class of 1953, are starting on a new adventure tonight. Our motto Forward Ever-Backward Never, should always be remembered as we start on this new adventure. With today's problems we should re- member this motto as we build our lives. Some of us have spent twelve happy years together, while others have joined in recent years. Some of us will further our education in colleges, while others will choose a different course in Life's work. When we were younger, we thought the time would never come when we would graduate, but now that it has come, some of us wish we had a few more years of high school. The many activities we have enjoyed have taught us how to co-operate, participate, and conduct ourselves in social and community life. We wish to thank our parents, teachers, and the board of education for giving us the opportunity in obtaining a fine education. What we have gained in the past twelve years is a treasure which can never be taken from us. We hope that we will be able to make our lives worthwhile and show everyone that we have truly appreciated this first great chance in life. 14 Sue Waldron
