SALUTATORY As we come to another half-century mark, a change has come over us, a change whi h we feel in our minds and hearts. This change or strange feeling comes to us when we think about all our frieiKis and classmates that we are leaving behind, and when we think about all the good times we have had even though there were a few bad times mixed in between them. While we were working our way up through studies and education in grade school, we often looked ahead to try to see what the future had in store for us. Now that we are finishing our high school career we begin to look back and wonder why we were in such a hurry to get where we are now. For the majority of this class a future of working in factories, on farms, or being housewives has already been mapped out, while others are planning to keep right on going to school for further education. In either case the members of this class will always remember our Alma Mater. The feeling that we owe our education and the success received from an education will always linger inside our hearts. Looking ahead from our graduation we hope that life will present itself to us in the same fashion as our previous years have. We hope that we may all reach the goals we are striving for and make our lives worth while. As we start this new phase of life we are all setting our aims high and will do our best to reach them. As we bid farewell to Lyons High School we wish sincerely to thank the faculty, school board, and all others who have helped us get the most good out of our school days. --Maurice Damman

CLASS PUEM We, the Seniors of ’50, For twelve years have been taught By the teachers and experience, The knowledge that can’t be bought. Now our high school days are over, We have come to journey’s end; We will face the future with courage, As a new life is to begin. Sadness will come on commencement day, As we say good-by to all, And start out on our new journey With its troubles, both great and small. Success is our goal for happiness, In which we will all try to win, We’ll fight to the finish, no matter what, With courage we had when we began.
