VALEDICTORY As we, the Seniors of 1950 sit here on the stage tonight, many thoughts are probably passing through our minds. We are probably t thinking of our past school life--how we, as a class, have worked and played together for twelve years. No doubt we are also thinking of the future and what it holds for us. Does the future hold success in life for all of us seniors? It depends on us. We will have to work to reach the goal of success. Our motto, B sharp, B natural, but never B flat, is a good way for us to get along with other people. As we start out into the future, we will need to get along with other people. As we look out among the people of this world, we hear them talking of the Hydrogen Bomb and that we might have another war. Instead of a Hydrogen Bomb with which to destroy the people, we need peace with each other. Our class can all do our small share in bringing peace by cooperating with other people. Twelve years ago we were starting our school life--now we are starting to journey upon the paths of Life. Then we had our parents and teachers to help us over our small difficulties--now we are out on our own. Although we may not at the present time realize what our teachers have tried to do for us, later in life we will probably look back to our school days and realize what our teachers and our parents have done for us. We will probably wish we would have worked harder in school and we would have listened more closely to the teachers. It isn’t until after we get out of school and are on our own that we realize and understand the true value of education and wish we would turn back the wheels of time. On behalf of the Senior Class of 1950 I wish to express our appreciation for the teachers, our parents, and anyone who has helped us to prepare for our work later in life. We owe much to them for encouraging us to go forward and obtaining an education. As we go out, we are determined to become good and useful American Citizens. —Wava Jean Hoops
