CLASS HISTGRY Time has flovm swiftly since the beginning of our freshman year, lt is saddening to think that we won't return again next year, but as we, the Class of 1961, look thoughtfully back on our four years at L, C, S., we find memories of successes and of failures, Our energetic class started off with Phyllis Rooke as our president and Mr, Mac Naughton as our adviser, The only money making project we had was a bake sale, John Beal headed our sophomore class and Mr. Gould was our adviser. On the agenda were a bake sale and the sale of fruit cakes. Could anyone forget the confusion of order mix-ups? We were really moving in our junior year when Ted Hill was elected president and Mr. Williams was chosen as our class adviser. We sponsored the refreshment stand at the football games and sold book covers and stationery. Finally, it was our turn to plan the Junior Prom, Three Coins in a Fountain, We workedhard and our efforts paid off, even though the decorations were a bit too realistic, Although the junior rings put a dent in our pocketbooks, they really made us feel like upperclassmen, At last, we entered our final year, selecting the same president and adviser, Like our predecessors we took over the milk bar and the refreshment stand at the basketball games,In our magazine sales we really outdid ourselves by going over our quota of 35,5005 of this we were very proud, Our long awaited Senior Ball, Winter Paradise , was held on December 23, with the Mellotones providing the music, The decorations were beautiful and well worth our planning. These activities, along with the senior play, so enriched our treasury that we were able to take the trip to Washington during the second week in May, With the singing of the Alma Mater and the playing of Pomp and Circumstance on ,T une 23, our Commencement night, the class of '61 will go confidently forth to face new horizons and other landmarks.
