CLASS HISTORY As the school year draws to a close we Semors '70 strong are anxrously awamng that nlght tn June when we can march down the atsle to Pomp and C1rcumstance We have enJoyed our four years of htgh school tmmensely There have been t1mes when we all have wtshed we would never have to go back to school agatn but now we are more than glad we d1d At the start of our freshman year Mrs Gardner was our advrsor and Martm Gruen our prestdent The mam event that year was the Sock Hop whlch was a b1g success The merchants of Lyons d1d much to help us w1th the hop and we were very thankful to them Then came 1954 and we stepped up mto our Sophomore year Tlus year w1th the ard of Coach Blackwell as our advtsor and Eleanor Trombtno as prestdent we really were gotng to try to make more money As of the begmntng of our second year tn lugh school our treasury was very low After havlng the ftrst dance of the year we had the grand sum of 55216 02 m our treasury The .Tumor Class of 1956 chose Alta Studer as thetr prestdent and Mr Buell as advrsor We attempted somethtng new that year and lt proved to work out very well. We elected an Execuuve Comnuttee to plan our act1v1t1es F1ve people who would work w1th the offtcers of the class, made up thas comrmttee, Then the long awatted event of our Juruor year arr1ved We ptcked out our Class rmgs They put a b1g dent tn our pockets but we dtdn t care we thought they were worth every cent we patd The ftrst money maklng 3CIlV1Iy we had that year was the sale of school ptns We also made money through several bake sales and the sale of statronery Then came the btggest event of the year OUR Ituuor Prom. Under the theme of Paradlse Isle our prom was a happy success Durtng our last month as J' umors we took over the rmlk bar from the Semors We also elected Mr Buell and Mtss Read as our Seruor Class advlsors and V1rg,1n1a Hurtt as our prestdent Fmally came our long awaxted Seruor year We started thas year off w1th the sale of magaztnes Then our semor ptctures were taken and we were all deltghted wtth them. Arseneau D, Swift Mr. 'Ihurkins Director Senior-High Chorus consists of 54 members directed by Paul Thurkins Freshmen through Seniors are eligible for chorus and new members are selected after try-outs in the fall, The chorus performs an average of three concerts per year besides attending county and state festivals where they perform for judges and are rated This year the chorus did an especially fine job in the annual Christmas Concert on December 16th. The group sang a cantata with an original story written by Nancy Arseneau and Barry Cummings.
