CLASS HI 'I'0RY Maroon and white streamers flowing through our new gymnasium, sighs of relief from teachers, and proud, tense faces of our parents, all add to the graduation atmosphere. This is the final scene that will take place in a few l-o-n-g weeks when we, the SENIORS of '56, not only graduate from high school, but also graduate from bobbysoxs to heels and dungarees to gabardines. Scene l took place in 1952 when '70 eager, little Freshmen marched up one more flight of stairs to begin a new phase in their school life. Spencer DeVito was honored with the presidency with Mr. Gould as our much-needed advisor. We felt a new feeling of prestige when we learned that our May Dance was the most successful of the year. Spencer DeVito was once more the principal character as we began Scene 2, with Coach Blackwell as co-star. The Red Cross Blood Center was adorned when Mr. Gould took some of our Sophomores from his Biology Class to Rochester. A Soc Hop was given which patronized the Lyons Merchants by leaving them without a pair of socks in their stores. And, of course, there were our more serious moments when Mr. Sullivan took the English classes to Geneva to see The Knights of the Round Table. The money problem was our main plot in Scene 3. Eddie Santelli was elected president, with Mr. Gould as our advisor. To help WLDEN the plot we sold candy and held a profitable bake sale. Though the class rings put a dent in our personal budgets, every Junior owned a big smile. We all worked hard to spend an Evening In Paris at the annual Junior Prom which was well worth the effort. Six proud and happy Juniors were selected to be members of the National Honor Society at the close of the year. The final scene takes place in the new Junior-Senior High School. Mr. Gould again was chosen to be our advisor. Norman Everhart was elected to the presidency in this last year. Five additional members were added to the Honor Society also. Because of our great selling ability Lyons is now more magazine minded and the Seniors received a plaque from the Curtiss Publishing Company. The selling of rnil.k and ice cream in the cafeteria played an important role in raising money for our Senior Trip. Spring rolled along and we held the yearly Senior Play under the direction of Mr. Magill. The day came when we boarded the train with our over loaded suitcases and headed for the big city, some of us for the first time, to spend in five days the money that took us four years to raise. And now the curtain is lowering for the class of '56, Many of our hopes and dreams have been fulfilled and many have yet to come. We express our sinoere-thanks to all the faculty and ad- rninisnfation for bringing us closer to our goals. THANKS! 'I2
