The student council has sixteen members. The senior, junior, and sophomore classes each have four representatives. The freshmen are represented by two and the Y-teen and Hi-Y each have one member included in the student council membership. The council provides opportunities for the students to participate in school affairs and to provide social activities for the student body. The sponsor is Miss Rethorst. The officers are Dick Sykes, president, Howard Griffin, vice-presidentg Joan Kingsley, secretary and treasurer. P. L. Championship with only one defeat by Lindsborg by three points. The team also took consolation honors in the I-Ioisington tournament and second place in the Lyons Regional tournament where Buhler defeated them in the final game. They were one oi four Class A teams invited to the State tournament at Salina. 'l'he Lions defeated the Iola quintet and then went down before the Abilene team to be eliminated from the tournament. Four members of the Lyons team were named on the C. P. L. all-star team. Bob Rumble was named to the first team. Howard Griffin was named to the second,team. Honorable mention was given to Ed Rensch and Dean Nixon. Bob Rumble was also named to the second team in the State in the class A division.
