Seven others strove earnestly to enter the latter of the second semester. We played for the Elnora, Ellettsville and Lyons fairs and have assisted the cheer section at the home basketball games, with novelty numbers and marches. The second semester was very busy for us, rehearsing soloists, ensembles and band numbers which were entered in the contests at Terre Harte and Worthington. Even though the won and lost record is unbalanced to the lost side the spirit and determination with which the boys played deserves great admiration from the coach school and community. The presence of only one senior on the squad points to the coming years as a period of basketball prosperity Changes made during the season were the purchasinv of new glass bankboards, new uniforms and black satin warm up uniforms. JUNIOR HIGH FIRST TEAM At the beginning ofthe year the team began with a new coach and also a new teacher here at Lyons Mr, Ralph Fulk from Worthington, Indiana, The Lion Cubs, after a year of almost complete graduation, have faced a tremendous rebuilding job. Handicapped by a lack of height and a keen basket eye they have shown up well although they have a winless season to date. The Cubs, for the most part, have been learning fundamentals and are showing much progress toward many more successful basketball years. tn 4-D L1 3 3 , s n I A A4 'W , ,W f FRONT ROW: S. This was accomplished through the effort of the team and various community members. After one full day's work the diamond was ready for action, The season saw the Lions in action six times. Although the season was completed without a victory there was much experience gained by an otherwise untried team, The new uniforms added color as well as enthusiasm to the game. With two Seniors graduating from the squad, improvement is expected with experience.
