Grade 8 After what seemed to be o short three months vacation, twenty-four members returned to the class- room on September 2, 1954. We lost Betty Wright, who enrolled at Linton. Leah Jackson of Indiana- polis and Dulecene Byers of Worthington have ioined us. We elected the following officers: president, Marietta Floyd, vice-president, Karen Hollarsp secretary-treasurer, Kay Nichols, news reporter, LaVeme Hasler. Mr. Bill Aydelotte was chosen for class sponsor. The first social function of the class was a party at the home of Larry Russell. A most enioydale Christmas party was planned by Mr. and Mrs. Bill Aydelotte at their home. Qher activities consisted of a concession stand at the junior high ball games, eight of our boys on the ball team, nine members in the band and fourteen members in the chorus. Karen Hollars was elected queen of the Halloween camival. The iunior high yell leaders are also from our class. We have several members in 4-H. Grade 7 There are twenty-seven students in the seventh grade. Jim Edwards, who has been taking private tutoring from Miss Baker, retumed to school this year. Sharon Byers moved in this year from Worthington Officers selected for the year are: Bob Brown, president, Gary Hunter, vice-president, Richard Ketchem, secretary, and Janet Powers, treasurer. Grade 6 The sixth grade startedthe school year with ten boys and ten girls enrolled. Later in the year, Kathy Resler withdrew to enter the Switz City Central. We have one new student, Gloria Hamilton, who moved from Linton to Lyons. Grade 5 Twelve pupils enrolled in grade five on September 2, l954. There were nine boys and three girls in the class. Jean Resler withdrew from the class on October 20, to enter school at Switz City, her parents having moved to that community. At the first of the new year our enrollment stands at eleven, nine boys and two girls. Grade 4 Grade four began the l954 school year with an enrollment of fourteen students, eight girls and six boys. Thirteen of these students were promoted from the third grade, with one student, Mary McConnell, coming from Bloomfield. 33
